The Kenton Police Department seeks assistance from the public in identifying this suspect. A white male entered the Marathon Store at 303 N. Detroit St. in Kenton at 2:25 p.m. on Tuesday (today).
The suspect approached the counter and brandished a knife, demanding money. The clerk activated the robbery alarm and the suspect fled the business on foot.

Two Indiana residents died in a head-on crash at 9:44 p.m. on Sunday on SR 117 south of Holden. The unincorporated village of Holden is located between Alger and Roundhead, west of SR 235.
A southbound car crashed head-on with a pickup truck. The occupants of the car, Marcus Daniel Cory, 33, Ft. Wayne, and Michelle Hakey, 29, Columbia City, were pronounced dead at the scene
Occupants of the pickup truck were taken by medical helicopter to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Toledo with serious injuries. They include the driver Sonia Kropaczewski-McNamara, 39, and two children, ages 5 and 9 months of Grand Junction, Michigan.

The scammers are at it again. If you recieve a call from the "IRS" stating a warrant has been issued for you PLEASE hang up. It is not real, they are scammers. the most recent number that the call came from is 313-550-4019

Applications are still available for the Citizens Sheriff’s Academy slated for March 8 until April 26. The group will meet weekly on successive Thursdays from 6-8:30 p.m.
The Academy is designed to provide a working knowledge of the Hardin County sheriff’s office. It will explain and demonstrate the various aspects of the sheriff’s responsibilities using classroom discussion and hands-on participation. Participants will observe and experience the talents, skills, diversity, and quality of the office.

A child is lost, and it’s getting dark.
At 6 p.m. on Friday, a helicopter hovers overhead. Many rescue and law enforcement are on hand looking for the child.
There are boats and scuba gear in case he is found in or near one of the many farm ponds that dot the territory.
Neighbors join in the search. ATVs prowl the countryside. Residents, even two miles away, have been notified to be on the watch.
Hardin County Sheriff's is currently searching the area of 0726 TR 55 near Ada for a 13-year-old autistic male missing from the residence since approximately 3:30 pm.

The Hardin County sheriff’s office has received calls regarding a check cashing scam affecting local residents. An ad was placed in the Kenton Times seeking Home Health Care workers. After responding to the ad, two Hardin County residents received text messages from a Katherine Dunn followed by the receipt of a check in the amount of $1650 each; mailed to the victims by priority mail.
The checks were drawn on Michigan First Credit Union in Lathrup Village, Mich. The victims were instructed to keep $400 and return the rest to an unknown address in Massachusetts.
