Kenton man dies in crash

Joseph Wayne Hovey, 45, of Kenton died in a car-semi crash on SR 68 north of Kenton at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

 

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office responded to the 7000 block of State Route 68, north of Kenton at 8:02 pm. A maroon Pontiac was traveling south bound on State Route 68 and started to pass a semi-truck. As the Pontiac entered into the north bound lane, the north bound International semi-truck hit the Pontiac.  Hovey was pronounced dead at the scene. Both vehicles came to stop in fields on each side of the roadway.

 

The driver of the commercial truck, David Cherry of Windsor, Canada was treated and released at the scene. 

 

Arrest warrant obtained for 302 robbery suspect

Lima man held in Miami County Jail

Ada police report that an arrest warrant was obtained today for the arrest of Clark E. Sturgeon, 42 of Lima, for the robbery of the 302 Carryout in Ada on Jan. 3.

Police report that robbery, a felony of the 3rd degree, included an undisclosed amount of money.

Sturgeon is being housed in the Miami County Jail, Troy, on unrelated charges.

The robbery occurred at 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 3 and was caught on a surveillance camera.

The Ada Police Department had assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation in processing evidence left behind by the subject at the carryout.

Ada police seek assistance from Ada residents concerning a robbery late in the evening of Jan. 3 at 302 Carryout.

SAFER (Seeking Aid From Every Resident) ALERT

On Jan. 3, at approximately 11:30 p.m., an unknown white male wearing a dark blue hoodie and dark colored sweat pants robbed the 302 Carryout in Ada, of an undisclosed amount of money.

The subject is described as approximately 5 feet 10 inches in height, heavy build and brown facial hair. The subject did not brandish a weapon.

Drugs found in Forest

The Hardin County Crime Task Force served a search warrant today at 501 W. Zimmerman St. in the Village of Forest.  The warrant had been issued as part of an investigation into the illegal sale of prescription medication. 

 

The search resulted in the seizure of $3,740 cash and a significant quantity of prescription pills.  

 

Minor Curl, of that address, was arrested on drug trafficking charges and transported to the Multi County Correctional Center in Marion.  

 

Cattle wrestling in Ada

Remember the roaming rooster of Ada. Today's animal at large was a calf. This is a screen shot from the Ada Police Department Facebook.

It appeared to be a young cow, probably less than 6 months old on the way to an auction. It ran across Main by Quest Financial and First United Methodist Church, into a backyard on Highland where it was cornered.

The trailer owner placed a rope around the cow's neck and led it back into the trailer.

A 14-year-old runaway, a stolen car, an accident

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office reports that it responded to a crash that found a 14-year-old runaway from Cridersville was involved in a single car accident at SR 31 and CR 265 which is between Kenton and Mt. Victory. The auto had been stolen from a residence in Auglaize County.
The youth failed to negotiate a turn, traveled off the north side of the road, through a yard, and crashed into a tree near a creek and bridge.
The youth was released to the custody of the Cridersville Police Department.
