Annual mulch sale

The Lions Club annual mulch sale began Saturday. Among those assisting were (from left) Jimmy Wilson, Jeff Gray, and Keith Everhart. Black or brown mulch can be ordered by calling 419-634-5626 or 419-302-5897 for pickup or delivery on Saturdays between now and the end of May. Purchasing mulch from the Lions goes to a good cause since the club has given over $67,000 in profits to local students for scholarships from the sale in the past 16 years. For pickup, the piles of mulch can be found at Bass Trucking, just west of Ada on SR 81. Lions will be there on Saturdays by 8 am.

State Route 81 work east of Ada

This week, State Route 81 at Township Road 55, east of Ada, will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for drainage tile repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage.

Mock accident takes place leading up to prom - serves a purpose

Metal grinds against metal, glass shatters, bones break, blood splatters, tires screech to a sudden halt.

Then silence.

Only smoke and dust quietly drift in the air.

Cries of pain and anguish begin.

A witness calls 911, gives details as best she can...where the accident occurred, how many people involved, how badly injured, pleading, "Please send help immediately."

About 300 Ada students, grades 9-12, experienced a mock accident Friday afternoon in the parking lot at the school.

Bluffton Hospital recognized nationally for patient satisfaction

Bluffton Hospital has been recognized by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) as a top 20 hospital for patient satisfaction.

The ranking is based on data compiled by iVantage Health Analytics.

"We are so proud to be ranked highly in these measures," said Chris Keller, Bluffton Hospital chief administrative officer.

"Bluffton Hospital associates, physicians and volunteers work hard every day to ensure each patient has a positive experience. I am thrilled that their effort is recognized through this prestigious award."

Library bids opened

Library board action anticipated at next board meeting

Ada Public Library received bids Thursday for its proposed addition and renovation from companies in Columbus, Sidney, and Kalida.

The board will consider choosing one or none at its next board meeting or at a specially called meeting.

The engineer's estimate of the base bid was $770,000. Base bids were:
• $770,000 from LeVeck, Columbus
• $897,000 from Westerheide Construction, Sidney
• $937,000 from Schimmoeller, Kalida

Lions mulch sale begins Saturday

It's time to dig in the dirt and buy your mulch from the Ada Lions Cub. The annual sale of mulch begins Saturday at Bass Trucking, 0410 SR 81, just west of Ada.
The Lions have awarded more than $67,000 in scholarships to local high school graduates since the mulch sale began in 2000.
To order, call 419-634-5626 or 419-302-5897. Brown mulch costs $30 per Bobcat load while black mulch goes for $35.
Mulch can be picked up after 8 am on Saturdays. Deliveries are also available on Saturdays for $10 in the Ada area and $20 in the Kenton and Lima area.
