Liberty National raffle fund-raiser underway for "Project Warmth!"

Liberty National Bank is in the midst of its summer "Share the Warmth" raffle to benefit its Project Warmth!

Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and may be purchased at the bank.

Liberty National Bank employees created Project Warmth! in 1990 to help local children stay warm during the winter.

The bank receives information from local organizations regarding children in need of coats, gloves, hats and scarfs.

The bank then purchases these items with donated fund. Share the Warmth raffle is one of these fundraisers.

Ada's Lincoln Highway Buy-Way Yard Sale meeting July 25

Ada is taking the first step to prepare for next month's LIncoln Highway Buy-Way Yard Sale.

This year the sale is Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 11, 12 and 13.

A organizational meeting for persons interested in details or for those interested in volunteering to assist in Ada's portion of the event at 1 p.m., Monday, July 25, in the Ada depot, according to Angela Polachek of the village.

In past years Ada village created a map showing all local garage sales. A booth on Main Street distributed the maps to garage salers. And, signs were made available to all garages participating in the weekend event.

"Capabilities in Ada" assists persons with disabilities to find employment

Ca-pa-bil-i-ty – power or ability.
Example: “He had an intuitive capability of bringing the best out of people.”

You may not be aware, but there are several "capabilities" opportunities in Ada.

It’s simply called Capabilities in Ada. It’s a program that provides community job and community integration services to area residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Breanne Settlemire is Ada’s community consultant. This summer she works with several Capabilities interns through Ohio Northern University. Interns are persons with disabilities.

Ada chamber, Ada CIC meet on Wednesday

Two Ada groups meet on Wednesday. Both meeting are open to the public.

Ada's Area Chamber of Commerce meets at 8 a.m. at Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main St.

Ada's Community Improvement Corp. (CIC) meets at noon, in the Dean's Heritage Room in McIntosh Center on the ONU campus.

60 candles on Ferguson Insurance anniverary cake - open house Friday

Ferguson Insurance Agency will celebrate its 60th anniversary with an open house from 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 22, at the office, 1356 Township Road 35 (St. Paul Road). All are welcome.

Ruth and John Ferguson started the agency in 1956. They were joined by their son, Fred, in 1978. John died in 1995 and Jamie Hazelton, Fred's daughter, joined the agency in 1996 and remains there today.

The Hazeltons live on the 60 acre farm where the business is located, northwest of Ada. She and her husband, Chad, are the parents of six children. The family raises many kinds of farm animals.

It was a big weekend of cars, trucks and bikes in Ada

Nearly 70 cars, trucks, and bikes were expected at the second annual VFW Car Show, according to Wynn Hauenstein of the Ada Post. 

The event continues to grow, and the event organizers hope to be able to move it into town in the future.  Jose Cartegena is shown with his white Mustang.
