Apollo Career Center receives Auditor of State Award

A recent financial audit of Apollo Career Center by the Auditor of State's office has returned a clean audit report. Apollo Career Center's excellent record keeping has earned it the Auditor of State Award.

The Auditor of State Award is presented to local governments and school districts upon the completion of a financial audit. Entities that receive the award meet the following criteria of a "clean" audit report:

It’s all for a great cause.

Community Health Professionals’ annual Hospice-Beacon of Hope dinner and charity auction is Tuesday, May 6, at the ONU Ball Room in McIntosh Center, according to Deb Curlis.

The evening includes at 6 p.m. dinner followed by a 7 p.m. auction. Tickets are $20 each.

“It’s an evening of fun and remembrances with live and silent auctions,” said Curlis. “All proceeds benefit the Visiting Nurses and Hospice services of Community Health Professionals of Ada, 1200 S. Main St.

Persons interested in attending must RSVP before May 2. A reservation form is an attachment at the bottom of this story.

Extension - 4-H levy on May 6 Hardin ballot: not an additional tax

Five years ago the voters of Hardin County passed a 0.4 mil levy to support Hardin County OSU Extension. The Extension office supports 4-H Youth Development, Agriculture & Natural Resources, and Family Consumer Science programming. It preserved the 4-H program through the end of 2014. On May 6 the voters of Hardin County are again being asked to support OSU Extension and 4-H.

Village of Ada receives Tree City USA award for 33rd consecutive year

The Village of Ada Tree Commission was honored to accept the Tree City USA award in a ceremony on April 9. The Village has earned the Tree City Award for 33 years. Ohio Northern University earned and accept the Tree Campus USA for the 3rd year.

The ceremony was held in Kenton, and was co-hosted by the City of Kenton and the Village of Mt. Victory.

The awards were presented by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry. The Division of Forestry acts as a guiding hand in helping communities become qualified as a Tree City USA.
