Bulldog baseball bested by Knights

The visiting Ada baseball team lost 12-2 to Crestview in a Northwest Conference matchup in Convoy on Thursday evening, April 28.

Ada fell to 5-9 overall and 0-5 in the NWC with the defeat. Meanwhile, Crestview improved to 9-3 and 5-1 in NWC play with the win.

Crestview plated eight big runs in the bottom of the first inning to build a big early lead. The Knights stretched the margin to 11-1 after three frames. 

Ada scored once in the fourth to slice the deficit to 11-2, but the Knights matched it in the bottom of the sixth to invoke the 10-run rule. 

Ada girls downed by league-leading Crestview

The Ada varsity softball team lost 8-1 at league-leading Crestview in a Northwest Conference matchup in Convory on Thursday evening, April 28.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 3-11 and 1-5 in the NWC after the defeat. The Knight girls improved to 18-1 overall and 7-0 in the NWC with the win. 

With a win over defending league champion Lincolnview (4-1 NWC) next week, the Knights would clinch the NWC outright title.

Ada took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when freshman Karley Wagner singled and scored. 

Lady Bulldog tracksters 2nd at USV Invite

The Ada High School girls track and field team finished a strong second at the 12-team USV Ram Invitational meet Thursday, April 28, at McGuffey.

Riverdale won the girls team crown with 186 points, followed by Ada with 86. 

Allen East captured the boys team title, while the Bulldog boys came in seventh.

Julian Grose won the 300 hurdles to post the top Ada boys finish.

Bulldog sophomore distance ace Josie Phillips took second in both the 1600 and 3200-meter runs.

Girls 400 Meter Dash

Bulldog netters lose to Bath

The Ada High School tennis team lost at Bath 4-1 Wednesday evening, April 27.

The Bulldogs dropped to 2-4 with the loss.

Junior Amelia Alexander posted the lone Bulldog win at third singles.

"It was a tough match and a great experience in that environment," said Ada coach Tyler Christoff. "I am proud of how my team handled it."

Ada hosts Van Wert, another WBL foe, on Thursday. The Bulldogs visit Bluffton in a makeup match Saturday, April 30.

AHS softball loss at Kenton

The Ada High School varsity softball team dropped an 11-1 non-league contest at Hardin County rival Kenton Wednesday evening, April 27.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 3-10 after the defeat. The Wildcats improved to 4-7 with the win.

Kenton scored four runs in the first inning and never trailed. Wildcat Macee Heckathorn smacked a two-run homer to highlight the opening frame.

"The first inning hurt," said Ada head coach Jeff Bassitt. "We couldn't get anything rolling with the bats. We had a few errors that killed us."

Kenton stretched its lead to 9-0 after four innings. 

Bulldogs 3rd in own quad track meet

The Ada High School track and field teams hosted a four-team meet on a cold Tuesday, April 26, at War Memorial Stadium.

Bluffton won the boys team crown, while Ada came in third. Ben Logan took the girls team title, with the Bulldog girls finishing third.

Jackson Browne won the boys 110 meter hurdles race to pace the Bulldogs.

Ada sophomore Mariah King took first in the girls 300 hurdles. Soph Josie Phillips also won the girls 3200 meter run.
