Bulldog baseball blanked by state-ranked Lancers

The Ada High School baseball team lost 10-0 to defending league champion Lincolnview in the Northwest Conference opener Thursday, April 7, on a windy, cool evening at Ada’s War Memorial Park.

Lancer hurler Dane Ebel pitched a five-inning no-hitter and slugged a three-run home run over the right-center field fence to pace the victors.

The Bulldogs fell to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the NWC with the defeat. Defending NWC champion Lincolnview improved to 2-3 and 1-0 in league play. 

The game was scheduled to be played at Lincolnview but was moved to Ada due to wet fields.

Lady Bulldogs fall to Lancers in NWC opener

The Ada High School varsity softball team lost 11-1 to defending league champion Lincolnview in the Northwest Conference opener on a cool, windy Thursday, April 7 evening at War Memorial Park.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the NWC with the loss. The Lancers improved to 3-1 and 1-0 in the NWC after the win.

The game was scheduled to be played at Lincolnview but was moved to Ada due to wet fields.

AHS softball photo-story: Bulldogs walk off Panthers

The Ada High School girls softball team doubled twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to score the winning run and defeat McComb 3-2 in a drizzly non-league game Tuesday evening, April 5, at Ada's War Memorial Park.

The Lady Bulldogs evened their record at 2-2 this season with the walk-off win.

With the score tied 2-2 in the bottom of the last inning, junior Raeya Finn led off by stroking a pinch-hit double to the gap in left-center field. 

Freshman Jenna Bassitt then drilled a line drive to center field, but it was caught.

AHS baseball: Bulldogs downed by McComb

The Ada High School baseball team lost 16-3 to visiting McComb in a non-league contest on a damp and gray Tuesday evening, April 5, at Ada's War Memorial Park.

The Bulldogs trailed 3-1 after the first frame and 5-1 after two innings.

McComb stretched its lead with five runs in the fourth. Ada answered with two runs, but then the Panthers pushed across six more scores in the fifth to provide the run-rule margin.

The Bulldog record dropped to 2-2 with the defeat.

Bulldog track 2nd at five-team AE meet

The Ada High School track and field teams each finished a solid second at a five-school meet hosted by Allen East at Goodwin Field on Tuesday, April 5.

The Mustangs edged Ada to win the boys team title, while Waynesfield-Goshen took first on the girls side.

AE scored 135 points to 111.5 by the Bulldog boys. The W-G girls won with 121 points, with Ada second at 86.

Burger leads Women's Golf to victory at Bluffton Spring Classic

Freshman Amelia Burger (Centerville) won Medalist honors and the Ohio Northern women's golf team won the team title of the Bluffton Spring Classic on Saturday and Sunday at Hidden Creek Golf Course.

The Polar Bears (60-12 overall) carded a 336-324—660 on the 5602-yard, par-72 course to defeat second place Bluffton by 16 strokes.

Six ONU golfers finished in the top 10 in the 44-women field, led by Burger with a 17-over par 82-79—161.
