ONU senior is New Balance Lacrosse scholar

Ohio Northern senior Jackson Pfister (Upper Arlington) has been named a USILA/Warrior and New Balance Scholar All-American in men's lacrosse for 2019 by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

Pfister is the first ONU student/athlete to receive the award, which was given to 75 players from around the country, and graduated with his bachleor's degree in pharmaceutical and healthcare business in May.

Ada 7th grader qualifies for national AAA swim meet

Lily Baumgartner joins State of Ohio Team

On Sunday, July 7 Ada's Lily Baumgartner met a long-term goal by qualifying for the national AAA swim meet in the 50 butterfly.

She will now compete in Wisconsin on Aug. 1, at the highest level she can in the nation for her age group in USA Swimming.

Baumgartner, an incoming seventh grader at Ada Schools, is 12 years old and will be a part of the State of Ohio Team which will compete in the Central Zone championships.

The USA Central Zone Swim Championships is an All-Star format held each August where athletes represent their Local Swimming Chapters (LSCs).  

Wills sisters faced off in Lima tourney finals

Mackenzie, a junior for the Ohio Northern University women's tennis team, won the sisterly championship match 6-3, 7-5 to take the title.

Miranda is an incoming junior at Ada and made districts for the 14-5 Bulldog tennis team this past spring.
 

Ada Gators prepare for WOAL meet

Plenty of incentive for local team to be in the thick of the action

Ada Gator swim team will close its 2019 swim season at the weekend Western Ohio Aquatics League (WOAL) in Bluffton on Friday and Saturday, July 12-13.

The Gator's enter the champships with a 2-4 overall record, which includes a 3-point loss to Wapak. So, the team has plenty of incentive to have good showing.

 More than 500 swimmers and their families will descend to the meet. The WOAL is for swimmers aged 4-18 who are members of one of the league’s teams.

ONU lacrosse player academic all-American

Ohio Northern junior Cameron Marous (Brecksville) was named Third Team Google Cloud Academic All-America At-Large in men's lacrosse for 2019 in voting conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Marous becomes the first ONU men's lacrosse player to earn Academic All-America honors.

This season, he led the Polar Bear offense with 34 goals, 21 assists, 55 points, and 92 shots as an attacker. The junior also chipped in 25 ground balls and six caused turnovers during the campaign.

ONU will wear state-of-the art helmets

Ohio Northern University football players will play with more confidence this fall knowing that the finest football helmet on the market is protecting them.
