ONU grad named Comeback Player nominee

Ohio Northern graduate student Sam Shook (New Philadelphia) has been named a Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year Nominee this week.

 

It’s ONU vs. Wisconsin team in volleyball tourney

The No. 20-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team will travel to Grand Rapids, Mich., and will face No. 18 Wisconsin-Whitewater in the First Round of the 64-team NCAA Division III Tournament on Thursday.

 

Times for the four first round matches will be released later in the week.

The Polar Bears (22-7 overall) earned the Ohio Athletic Conference's automatic bid after winning the OAC Tournament title on Saturday under 28th-year head coach Kate Witte.

The Warhawks (24-7 overall) qualified for the NCAA Tournament as an at-large after falling to No. 4 Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament finals.

Women’s soccer falls in overtime in OAC finals

WESTERVILLE — Top-seeded Otterbein scored on a rebound just 57 seconds into overtime to edge the second-seeded Ohio Northern women's soccer team 1-0 in the finals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.

The Polar Bears (14-4-1 overall) must now wait until Monday's NCAA III selection show to find out if their season will continue in the NCAA Tournament.

ONU was playing in its fourth consecutive trip to the tournament finals, winning the title last season.

The Cardinals (16-2-1) won their sixth OAC Tournament.

Women swim/dive team finishes last

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Senior Kierra Watson and junior Lauren Halle each registered multiple individual top-10 efforts Saturday as the Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving program concluded its weekend at the Calvin (Mich.) Invitational in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Polar Bears ended fifth overall in the five-team meet after posting 384.5 team points over the two-day event. No. 16-ranked Calvin won the meet with 964.5 points while Albion (Mich.), Carthage (Wisc.), and Hope (Mich.) ended second-through-fourth with 819.5, 777.5, and 520 points, respectively.

Men’s swim/dive team finishes 4th of 5

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving program concluded their stay at the Calvin (Mich.) Invitational Saturday, November 3, claiming 10 total top-five finishes to end the weekend fourth in a five-team field in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Senior Pete He and freshman Jeremy Adams headlined Northern's day two performances, each earning runner-up honors.
