Injury-plagued Ada to visit LCC Sat.

ADA - A short-handed Ada football team will play its first road game this season when they visit former league rival Lima Central Catholic in week three this Saturday night.

"We have 12 guys out for a multitude of reasons, including injuries," first-year head coach Shawn Christopher noted. "The roster for Saturday is depleted, down from 38 players to 26."

The Thunderbirds (2-0) knocked off Delphos St. John's 20-10 in Lima last Friday night. LCC also won at Spencerville 34-19 in the season opener.

Unexpected: women’s soccer loses 2

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The No. 8-ranked Ohio Northern women's soccer team fell 3-0 in a battle of nationally ranked teams Sunday afternoon to #23-ranked Illinois Wesleyan at Neis Soccer Field as part of the season-opening Illinois Wesleyan Tournament.

The Polar Bears drop to 0-2-0 on the young season while Illinois Wesleyan rebounded from their season-opening loss to move to 1-1-0.

ONU men’s golf edged 334 to 335

The Ohio Northern men's golf team opened its 2018 fall schedule with a solid performance at its own Polar Bear Classic Saturday and Sunday at Colonial Golfers Club.

 

Senior Joshua Turich won Medalist honors with a 76-77—153 to lead the Polar Bears (2-1 overall).

Heidelberg edged Ohio Northern 334-335 to win the team title.

Women’s golf wins

The Ohio Northern women's golf team opened its 2018 fall schedule with a solid performance at its own Polar Bear Classic Saturday and Sunday at Colonial Golfers Club.

 

The Polar Bears had the top six golfers in the dual match against Heidelberg, who brought only two golfers.

USV/Hardin Northern midget football game

It was a hard-fought USV/Hardin Northern Midget Football game, Saturday, in McGuffey that was halted several times for injured players.  However, each player managed to walk off the field after several minutes of observation.  The scoreboard tells the final score.

Men’s soccer ends in tie

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Ohio Northern men's soccer team battled their way to a 1-1 double overtime draw against Transylvania (Ky.) to begin the 2018 campaign.

Both teams move to 0-0-1 on the year.

Transylvania struck first in the 13th minute to open the scoring and take a 1-0 lead.

Northern responded just a 1:35 later with a goal of its own in the 14th minute.

Junior defender Michael Bringard  played a long ball from just outside ONU's 18-yard box deep into the Transylvania end.
