Ada boys win as Poling scores hat trick

OLD FORT - The visiting Ada boys soccer team defeated Old Fort 4-1 Thursday evening.

Sophomore Jacob Poling scored three goals to pace the Bulldogs to victory, which upped their record to 2-2.

Junior Skylar Williams added the other goal.

Jon Allen, Isaac Spar, Brendan Sheridan and William Jolliff each registered an assist for Ada.

Junior keeper Drew Hadley made 10 saves in goal.

Ada (1-2 home) plays host to NCOSA foe Cory-Rawson Thursday, September 13. Their NWC match at Spencerville scheduled for August 25 was postponed.

The Bulldog reserves host Lincolnview Sept. 4.

ONU football opens 124th season at home Saturday evening

Saturday's Contest: Ohio Northern will kickoff its 124th season of football on Saturday in the season opener of the 2018 season for both teams. ONU is 533-492-36 in his first 123 seasons, a winning percentage of .518. ONU is 19-5 in its last 24 season openers and is 65-53-5 all-time in its 123 previous season openers.

ONU Head Coach Dean Paul: Paul is in his 15th season at ONU with a 96-48 record. Paul is ONU's all-time winningest coach in ONU football history. He is 135-60 in 18 seasons overall and is 1-0 against AC.

AC head coach Jim Deere: Deere is in his 9th season at AC with a 52-30 record. He is 0-1 against ONU.

Mackenzie Wills anticipates another great tennis year at ONU

She topped the 'Bears last season in overall wins (43), went 25-6 against conference opponents

Mackenzie Wills of Ada is a member of the ONU tennis team again this year. She topped the Polar Bears last season in overall wins (43), singles victories (23), and doubles victories (20). She has an 83-33 career mark overall, including a 25-6 record against conference opponents.

She is a junior pharmaceutical major, having won two letters so far in women’s tennis.

Coach Scott Wills stated, "Mackenzie made great strides last year in developing her all-court game to complement her strong defensive skills, which can make her a tough out. We'll need her to continue to build on her strong doubles instincts."

Lady Bulldog soccer grounded by Eagles

ADA - Talented Liberty-Benton came to Ada and shut out the Lady Bulldog soccer team 9-0 Wednesday at the park.

The defeat dropped the Ada season record to 2-3.

"We lost to a strong Liberty-Benton team," said second-year Bulldog head coach Doug Poling.

The Eagles led 5-0 at the half and added four goals after intermission.

L-B out-shot Ada 32-4. Junior keeper McKenzie Long made 23 saves in goal for the Bulldogs.

The Lady Bulldogs (0-1 NWC, 1-2 home) resume play after a layoff when they entertain league foe Crestview Tuesday, September 11.
