Katayama, Beaschler pace Bulldog swimmers at Lima Sr. Invite

LIMA - The Ada girls and boys swim teams compiled a combined 7-3 record at the six-team Lima Senior swim meet duals Wednesday night at the Lima YMCA.

 

"The girls swam very well," said Ada head coach Tanner Holke. "Almost every swimmer had at least one personal-best time, and form improvements were noticeable."

 

The Bulldog girls picked up four wins under the multiple dual meet format, losing only to Minster in head-to-head scoring. The Ada boys posted a solid 3-2 dual meet record.

 

Ada sophomore Klava Katayama won both the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle races to pace the Lady Bulldogs.

 

ONU Women 71, Wilmington 48

Ohio Northern senior Amy Bullimore (Morrow/Little Miami) and sophomore Emily Mescher(Maria Stein/Marion Local) led the No. 10-ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team to its 17th consecutive victory as Northern defeated Ohio Athletic Conference-foe Wilmington 71-48 on Wednesday evening at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 17-1 overall and stay perfect in the OAC at 11-0, while the Quakers drop to 9-9, 4-7.

Bruns now in 1,000 point club

WILMINGTON — Junior Ryan Bruns (Chickasaw/Marion Local) became the 38th member of Ohio Northern's 1,000-Point Club in a 95-77 men's basketball loss at Wilmington on Wednesday evening at Raizk Arena.

The Polar Bears (12-6 overall, 7-4 Ohio Athletic Conference) also got 18 points from senior Nate Burger (Dayton/Alter) and 17 points from senior Joey DiOrio(Columbus/Watterson).

Men’s track highly ranked

The Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team remained ranked No. 22 in the first weekly United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Div. III power rankings, released on Wednesday evening.

The Polar Bears hold steady at No. 22 for the second straight week after being ranked No. 22 in the preseason USTFCCCA power rankings.

Northern opened the season with a third place finish at the OAC North Split meet last Friday evening.

Women’s track ranked 8th in nation

The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team is ranked No. 8 in the first weekly United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association power rankings

The Polar Bears finished tied for fifth as a team at the 2017 Indoor National Championships, posting the best team finish at the indoor championships in school history.

ONU is coming off of a second place finish at the season-opening OAC North Split meet on Friday evening.

Devils rally past game Bulldog boys

ADA - Visiting Arlington outscored Ada by 13 points after intermisison to post a hard-fought 57-47 non-conference boys basketball victory Tuesday night.  

 

The purple and gold fell to 3-12 with the loss, while the Red Devils improved to 8-6 with the tough win.

 

The Bulldogs led 30-24 early in the third period when the game turned. Arlington reeled off a 14-1 spurt to take a lead it never relinquished. The Bulldogs did rally to tie the game early in the fourth quarter and trailed just 45-44 midway through the fourth period.
