The Cadets move into town this weekend

Music will soon fill the air throughout Ada.

Once again, the Cadets arrive in Ada to prepare for their national tour. The drum and bugle corps will practice on campus in small groups and as a whole from sunup to sundown beginning Monday.

They will have a public performance near the end of their stay on June 20, but the date and time have not been set yet. (Monty Siekerman)

Prices, hours, Zumba, swim lessons and swim team

Cassie Collins (left) is Ada Pool manager this year while Kathy Stuart is assistant manager. Both ladies served as assistant managers last year and are former members of the Ada Gators swim team.

The pool will be open every day from 1-8 p.m., except on Wednesdays when it will close an hour early for Zumba aqua swim led by Lynne Scott again this year. Zumba aquaswim will also be held from noon-1 p.m. on Saturdays beginning June 10.

There is also lap swim  on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for adults and toddlers for $1.

Summer work

The ONU College of Pharmacy is undergoing renovations this summer that are intended to give it an updated look and aesthetics while also capturing the college’s legacy. Among the renovations are new lighting, painting, flooring and furniture. The project is scheduled for completion before students return for fall semester 2017 classes. Collins earned Ph.D.

Ohio Northern University alumna and former Ada resident Jennifer Collins has earned the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Theatre at The Ohio State University. 

Dr. Collins was one of the 11,700 total graduates who received diplomas in commencement ceremonies held at the Shoe on the OSU campus in Columbus.

She is the daughter of Margaret (Peg) Riggle Collins and Ada Icon photographer Dr. Ken Collins.

Storer leads nation in saves

 T.J. Storer, an ONU junior,(Loveland/Moeller) has been named Second Team All-America by D3Baseball.com as a relief pitcher.

This marks the second consecutive season Storer has earned All-American status as a relief pitcher.

In 2016, Storer was named Third Team All-America.

This season Storer set an Ohio Northern single season record with 14 saves and led the nation with 14 saves.

He was a perfect 14-for-14 as a closer for the Polar Bears and is a perfect 27-for-27 during his career as a closer.

The junior owns the single season and career saves records at Ohio Northern.
