First-ever Ada Film Club film fest in May

Open to all Ada High School students

The Ada Film Club will host its first ever  Student Film Festival in May, according to an announcement on the Ada school website.

The festival starts at 5 p.m., Thursday May 18. All students from freshmen to seniors may enter films they have made for projects, for outside events, or just for fun. Watch the Icon for more details.

Announcement for Yearbook: Yearbook spring picture day is Tuesday, April 11.  Student groups will be called down over the announcements throughout the day, including lunch.

The Easter Bunny comes to Ada

Kappa Alpha Theta sorority invited the Bunny

An Easter Bunny hug.

A large crowd gathered at Ada War Memorial Park on Sunday afternoon for the annual Easter egg hunt sponsored by Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

The Easter Bunny got a lot of hugs from the youngsters prior to the gathering of the candy-filled eggs.

• Ready, set, go - the children are off to find as many eggs as possible. Three "golden" eggs contained a special note, giving the finder a big basket of goodies.

• Lauren Utrup says, "Thanks, Easter Bunny." Kappa Alpha Theta sorority sponsored an Easter egg hunt at the park on a beautiful spring day Sunday.

Greek Week winners

Fraternity and sorority members gather on the Tundra on Saturday afternoon to hear who the Greek Week winners were this year. Ada VFW delivers the cookies

Cookies. Lots of them. More than 3,000. Ada VFW Post 9381 and VFW of Ohio Charities donated 14 cartons of Girl Scout cookies to Vancrest on Monday.  The gift brought smiles to Revel Conley (seated) and many other residents. Barbara Sue Sutherly 1950-2017

Barbara Sue Sutherly, age 67, died on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 5:40a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

          She was born on January 19, 1950 in Hardin County, Ohio to Tommie and Lucy (Prater) Pitts who preceded her in death. On September 19, 1969 Barbara married Harold F. Sutherly and he survives in Ada.

          Barbara was a homemaker. She previously worked for Stratton Greenhouses of Bluffton, retiring after 16 years. She was a member of the Ada Full Gospel Pentecostal Church of God. Barbara was a 1969 graduate of Ada High School and of the Marion State Beauty Academy. She was a member of the Hardin County Herb Society.
