A Strawberry Moon over Ada

The first time in decades that a full moon ("Strawberry Moon") has appeared on the summer solstice as seen from Ada Monday evening. The next such event?  2062.  (USA Today, Christian Science Monitor, and other news services) Ken Collins took this photo.

Illusion, ventriloquism, juggling...all in one at the library

Remy and Friends entertained more than 100 children at an event sponsored by the Ada Public Library and held at Community Health Professionals on Monday morning.

The kids loved the show of illusion, ventriloquism, and juggling put on by Ron Remy of Dayton.

The Ada Icon asked Ron how he became interested in such a line of work.

"By necessity," he replied, explaining how he quit his 60 hour a week sales job to help his wife with cancer. She became cancer-free, so he thought he'd better get to work to bring in some income. That was 18 years ago.

"Superb" show by the Cadets on Monday

The national and international award-winning Cadets drum and bugle corps wrapped up their 17 days of rehearsal at ONU with a superb show at Dial-Roberson Stadium on Monday evening before a crowd estimated at nearly 500 people.

The 150-member corps received two standing ovations, one at the conclusion of their 11 and a half minute performance and one at the end of their four encores.
'Awakening" is the theme of this year's show.

Anyone need a magical wand?

There are now several wands in Ada, made by six teens who attended the Ada Public Library teen art session on Monday afternoon at the library. Here, Natalie Walton (right) explains to several of the teens just how to produce a wand.

Ada Rotary selling 55-gallon drums

Ada Rotary Club has a 55-gallon drum sale underway this summer.

The drums are great for storage or placing yard waste. Drums are $10 each with an additional $5 for lid and ring assembly.

Delivery is available in the Ada area by arrangement. Payment is due upon delivery.
