Brenna Hissong is Hardin County's award recipient

2021 Franklin B. Walter All-Scholarship Award winner

Brenna Hissong, Ada High School senior, is the 2021 Hardin County’s Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Awards winner. Brenna plans on enrolling in the Ohio Northern University pharmacy program upon graduating from high school.

The awards program, named in honor of Ohio’s 31st State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Franklin B. Walter, was established in 1989 by Ohio Educational Services Center Association, to promote and recognize outstanding student leaders for their academic achievement and service to their schools and communities.

FINDLAY - The Ada track and field teams competed in the first day of the 13-team Div. III district meet Wednesday at Findlay.

Columbus Grove holds the lead in both the boys and girls standings after the first day, which featured three finals events and many qualifying races. 

Ada competes in the second day of finals at the district meet in Findlay Friday, May 21. A top four finish in an event qualifies an individual or relay team to regionals at Tiffin.

Graveside services May 22 for Jerry and Jud Dearth

Graveside services for Jerry and Jud Dearth will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021.  Following the services, there will be a luncheon/open house to celebrate their lives at the Ada VFW from noon to 2 p.m.

Lady Bulldogs rally past Bearcats in season finale

Battery mates Waugh and Dalton will represent Ada at the inaugural northwest Ohio All-Star softball game May 28 in Vaughnsville

SPENCERVILLE - The visiting Ada softball team came from behind to surpass Spencerville 12-5 in the Northwest Conference and season finale Friday evening.

The Lady Bulldogs trailed by five runs early, but scored in each of their final four at bats to win convincingly.

With the win, the Ada season record finished at 13-12 overall and 2-6 in the NWC. The last-place Bearcat girls fell to 4-17 and 0-7 in league play with the defeat.

"We started out slow today, and then the light bulb went on and we decided we better swing the bats if we wanted to win the game," said Bulldog head coach Rebecca Dicke.

COLUMBUS GROVE - The Ada track and field teams competed in the Northwest Conference championship meet Thursday and Saturday at Columbus Grove.

Meet host Grove claimed both the boys and girls championships. 

CG captured the girls crown with 163 points, while Spencerville came in second at 141.

The Ada girls finished a solid fourth out of nine teams with 60 points, just edging fifth-place Bluffton (59) by a point. Delphos Jefferson and Lincolnview were right behind them in a tie for sixth with 58 points.
