Simon Says top four winners

FROM ADA BULLDOGS FACEBOOK - We won't try to explain how the competition works; we think you already know. Here's the top four finishers in the high school Simon Says competition held last week: Cami, Olivia, Jacob and Kadin.

Ada VFW's park-in-the-park set for June 12

The events features all types of vehicles from cars, trucks to bikes

Ada’s VFW second annual park-in-the-park car, truck and bike show takes place from noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 12.

Last year’s event hosted nearly 100 vehicles. It is held at the War Memorial Park offering over six acres of shaded and open space and takes place rain or shine.

Registration is now underway. Here are the details:
• Registration fee is $10. Trophies are awarded for the top 20 plus 23 additional classes(courtesy 4 Seasons  Drive-Thru).

• Awards and raffles take place at 5 p.m.

• Wooden dog tags go to the first 200 entries, courtesy of Opa’s Woodworks. The event also includes a raffle for a Sarka stainless steel grill.

League meet underway at Columbus Grove

COLUMBUS GROVE - The Ada track and field teams competed in the first day of the Northwest Conference championship meet Thursday at Columbus Grove.

Host Grove holds substantial leads in the boys and girls standings after the first day, with five field events and one relay completed. 

The Ada girls are fifth out of nine teams, and the Bulldog boys eighth after day one.

Ada sophomore Courtney Sumner won the long jump for the Lady Bulldogs. Junior teammate Olivia Green finished second in the long jump.

Tough draw for third-seeded Ada

LIMA - The Ada tennis team competed hard at the Div. II sectional tournament hosted by UNOH Thursday.

No Bulldogs advanced to the second day of semifinal competition Saturday despite a good run by the top doubles tandem.

After doing very well in singles competition all season, senior Miranda Wills and junior southpaw Dexter Woods III combined forces to play in the 23-team doubles tournament. 

Seeded third, the Bulldog pairing received a first round bye into the round of 16. In their first match, the Ada duo defeated Hayden Bader and Ali Braglia of LCC 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Ada travels to Spencerville tonight in NWC contest

HAVILAND - The visiting Ada softball team fell behind early and lost 11-1 to Wayne Trace in Div. IV sectional final action Thursday evening.

The Raider girls jumped out to an 8-0 lead and were never headed.

Ada dropped to 12-12 with the tournament loss, while hard-hitting WT improved to 15-9 with the win. The Lady Raiders advance to the district semifinals at Elida.

WT tallied two runs in the first inning and never trailed. Raider Ava Zartman scored on a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly by Tatum gave the Raiders a 2-0 lead.
