Smile, a university diploma is in hand

This scene takes place across the country this month as universities hold in-person commencements - many for the first time in two years. This particular scene involves Ohio Northern University graduates celebrating this past weekend.

Ada schools have seven positions open for next year

3 certified and 4 classified openings

Ada schools announced on its Bulldogs Facebook that seven positions are open in the school district for the coming school year.

Certified positions include:
• K-12 Intervention specialist
• 5th grade science and social studies teacher
• Substitute teachers

Classified positions include:
• Elementary secretary
• Cafeteria workers
• Substitute aides and secretaries
• Substitute bus drivers

A Badertscher family story with an Ada connection

It relates to the Edwin and Rose Badertscher Simon family

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - Bluffton Icon features a weekly series of Swiss immigrant families who settled in the Bluffton and Pandora area. One of those family members, Rosa Badertscher married Edwin Simon and that couple moved to the Ada area and had 6 boys and 2 girls. This is the story of that larger Badertscher family.

Karl and Anna Weber Badertscher and family are this week’s focus.

A previous column featured Peter and Anna Aeschliman Badertscher (Jan. 21, 2021) and we are unable to find any connections between these two Badertschers.

ONU to offer COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine clinic for adolescents

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at HealthWise Pharmacy

With the FDA approving Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for children age 12 and older, Ohio Northern University will be offering a special vaccination clinic for adolescents.

The clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, at ONU HealthWise Pharmacy, 511 W. Lincoln Ave., Ada.

Children between the ages of 12 and 17, along with adults who live in Hardin County and surrounding counties, are welcome to receive the Pfizer vaccine at ONU’s Saturday clinic.

Adults will also have the option of receiving the Johnson & Johnson brand vaccine.

Gov. DeWine to give statewide address tonight

This evening (Wednesday, May 12) at 5:30 p.m., Ohio Governor Mike DeWine will deliver a statewide address to Ohioans, continuing his conversation on where we are in our fight against the Coronavirus and our progress towards reaching the end of the COVID pandemic.
