Here's one of the earliest photos of Ada. It is of Ohio Northern University - but shows the university when it was called The Northwestern Ohio Normal School. The building today faces Main Street. This is from a booklet of photos titled "Ada and the O.N.U. - The New and the Old." The booklet was printed in 1902 and the wording under this photo stated "taken a long time ago."
Blanchard Valley Hospital Rehab & Sports Medicine, along with the Hancock Park District and the Hancock County Convention and Visitors Bureau, is sponsoring the 3rd Annual Flirt with Dirt 5K Trail Run/Walk on Saturday, July 14 at Riverbend Recreational Area in Findlay. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., the trail race will start at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 8:40 a.m.
The course for the event is on wood chipped and grass trails with short stretches of asphalt throughout the park area. This is a USA Track & Field certified course.
Awards will be given to the top three male and female runners in each age division.
Next weekend (June 15-16-17) Ada will become a car lover’s paradise – especially for MG sports car fans.
The Ohio Chapter of the New England MG-T Register car club will bring these specialty vehicles and their owners to Ada. It is the 82nd “Gathering of the Faithful,” (G.O.F.) for the club.

Vintage MG sports cars, dating from the mid-1930s to the early ‘80s, plus other British marques, will travel from all corners of Ohio and surrounding states to Ada for the long weekend.

Ohio Northern University President Dan DiBiasio announced this week the conclusion of The Campaign for Ohio Northern University’s Tomorrow, which raised $110, 658, 961, exceeding the goal of $100 million and making it the most successful campaign in Ohio Northern’s history.
Area teachers can now apply for a McDonald’s MAC Grant, which offers financial support to help teachers Make Activities Count for their students.
Ada McDonald’s owner, Jerry Lewis, is offering this educational initiative to assist area elementary and middle school teachers with their important job of educating young students.
Recognizing that lessons often become more meaningful when demonstrated with hands-on experiences, McDonald’s supplements regular classroom curriculum by supporting activities that the school’s budget may not allow.
Blanchard Valley Hospital (BVH), Findlay, has been awarded the 2011 Environmental Excellence Award from Sterilmed Inc. This means that BVH has been recognized as one of the country’s best practice facilities in reducing environmental impact and improving overall health care sustainability through medical device recycling.
“In the past 12 months, Blanchard Valley Hospital has diverted nearly 5,000 pounds of single use medical devices from landfills through reprocessing and recycling efforts,” said Marlene Brunswick, director of perioperative services at Blanchard Valley Hospital.
Our barrio clinic today was in a community named Cerro de Chiva (which translates “Goat Hill”), near Elias Piña, an impoverished city on the border of the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
The people in this community have very few resources and many of the people we saw today were severely malnourished and sick. A number of Haitian immigrants live in this community. The poverty is the most severe we have seen.
Students from Ada's Rhythm In Motion Dance Centre will hold a car wash on Saturday, June 9, to help raise money for their upcoming New Year's Day trip to perform in the pre-game and half-time festivities for the Outback Bowl. The car wash will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Burger King, on the east side of Lima, at the intersection of State Routes 309 and 117, near I-75.
