Pharmacy student awarded Partners in Pharmacy scholarship
Ohio Northern University student Cortney Phillips, a sixth-year pharmacy major from Akron, Ohio, was awarded the Partners In Pharmacy scholarship from the National Community Pharmacy Foundation Association (NCPA).
Phillips was recognized for her exemplary academic performance, community service, and demonstrated commitment to independent pharmacy. She will receive $2,000 and will be recognized at the national NCPA convention in October.

The Ohio Northern men's soccer team is ranked No. 12 in the 2012 Continental Tire/NSCAA Men's Division III preseason poll in voting conducted by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
The Polar Bears were ranked No. 11 in the final 2011 NSCAA poll.
ONU has now been nationally ranked in four of the past five seasons.
Ohio Wesleyan is ranked No. 1 after winning the 2011 NCAA III Tournament title, Saint Lawrence (N.Y.) is second and Messiah (Pa.) is third.
Northern will open its 2012 campaign at the Penn State-Behrend Tournament against Geneseo State (N.Y.) on Sept. 1 at 2:30 pm.

The Polar Bears were ranked No. 13 in the final 2011 NSCAA poll.
Messiah (Pa.) is ranked No. 1 after winning the 2011 NCAA III Tournament crown, William Smith (N.Y.) is second and Messiah (Pa.) was third.
Northern will open its 2012 campaign at home against Grove City (Pa.) on Aug. 31 at 4 pm and will host No. 17-ranked Case Western Reserve on Sept. 2 at 1 pm at the ONU Soccer Field.
This weekend marks the 99th annual Farmers and Merchants Picnic in Ada. The Ada Farmers and Merchants Picnic Association sponsor the Friday and Saturday, Aug. 10-11 event.
All events are held in the Park District of Liberty Township (formerly War Memorial Park).

Ohio Northern was selected to finish fourth in both the coaches and media polls at the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference Football Media Day Wednesday afternoon at the Hilton Double Tree Hotel.
The Polar Bears received 234 votes from 31 media members in attendance to finish fourth in the media poll and received 54 points in the coaches poll.
Coaches could not vote for their own team in their poll.
Mount Union was voted atop both each poll, receiving 81 points and nine first place votes in the coaches poll and 309 points and 30 first place votes in the media poll.
J. Christopher Hubbell, age 48 died May 31, 2012 in London, England.
He was born February 1, 1964 in Lima, Ohio to John Frederick and Katherine Anne (McBride) Hubbell. His mother predeceased him in death. He is survived by his parents Fred and Sharon Hubbell of Alger, Ohio.
He was employed as a Senior Presentation Specialist for Williams Lea in Columbus and spent his free time creating the comic strip “In the Weeds.”
