The Ada Farmers and Merchants Picnic celebrates its 100th anniversary in August, but unless more volunteers step up to the plate, the fate of the popular event is in question.
Bernie Mackey, president of the organization, shared that information with two communities groups on April 17. He spoke at the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce meeting at 8 a.m. and again at the Ada Community Improvement Corp. (CIC) meeting at noon.
Mackey said that nine key members of the organization’s board agreed five years ago to stay actively involved until the 100th celebration this summer. After this year’s event, those persons plan to step down from the board.
There's still time to save some money on passes to the Ada Municipal Swimming Pool this season. Individual early-bird season passes are $30 in April. On May 1 the price goes to $40.
Passes are on sale at the Ada Water Department. The tentative open date for this year's pool is Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.
On Thursday April 18, Mrs. Smittle’s Kindergarten children will be performing plays that they wrote on the retelling of the Three Bears.
The first performance is at noon and the second performance is a 7 p.m. The
children listened to numerous versions of the Three Bears, then met in groups
and retold and wrote down their retelling of this classic story.
They made puppets and masks for their performances and also created posters for this
event. Families will be attending both performances.
