Jennifer M. Shepherd, age 46, died on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 4:33 p.m. at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born on October 26, 1966 in Lima, Ohio to Ronald Frazier and Jean (Gross) Frazier. Her father and stepmother, Ronald and Debbie Frazier survive in Ada. Her mother, Jean survives in Ada. She married Randall Shepherd on February 24, 1984 and he died on December 16, 2004.
Jennifer worked for Rudolph Foods, Westminster for 13 years. She formerly attended the Ada Full Gospel Church and she was a 1985 graduate of USV High School.
All Ada Music Department students, grades 6-12, are now selling tickets for the annual Ada Music Boosters Chicken barbecue, to be held before Ada’s first home football game of the season, Friday, Sept. 6, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The annual Chicken barbecue is a major fund-raiser for the Ada Music Boosters and proceeds benefit numerous projects for Ada’s instrumental and vocal music programs. The Ada Icon has openings for Ada High School and junior high interns this school year, according to Fred Steiner, Icon owner.
The Icon seeks students with a variety of interests for these non-paid positions that offer lots of experience. Students interested in writing, photography and who have knowledge of social media are encouraged to contact Steiner.
Several intern positions are available. For example, students with an interest in movies or music are invited to write movie and music reviews. These writing projects allow students to write opinions using pen names.

To continue the positive partnership with Ohio Northern University and the village of Ada, ONU is conducting the second annual Ada Civic Engagement (ACE) Day on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The ACE initiative was introduced not only to provide an opportunity for ONU’s faculty, staff and first-year students to engage with the residents of Ada but also to contribute to the beautification of the village.

The story of the mystery beast is quickly becoming one of the most popular stories ever posted on The Ada and Bluffton Icons. The story was posted on Monday evening on Bluffton Icon. Since that posting the Bluffton Icon's facebook notification of the story has reached over 1,450 and that number continues to grow. As of Wednesday afternoon, 1,045 viewers actually clicked on the story.
Parents, teachers, and students know it’s about that time. Ada Schools are scheduled to resume classes for the 2013-2014 school on Monday, Aug.19. Ohio Northern undergraduate courses are scheduled to resume on Monday, Aug. 26.
Those involved in back to school activities have their to-do lists full. Those who aren’t directly involved in activities make think the bustle at this time of year have nothing to do with them.
