The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team has been selected to finish sixth in the Ohio Athletic Conference Preseason Poll, voted on by the conference's nine coaches.
Northern will open its season at Dial-Roberson Stadium as it plays host to Franciscan on Feb. 25 at 2 pm under second-year head coach Beth Hemminger.

Meri Skilliter, new Ada school superintendent, talked with members of the Ada Kiwanis Club earlier this week. She joined Ada schools on Jan. 1.
Skilliter told members about the “Every Student Succeeds Act.” In 2015 President Obama signed the Every Student Succeeds Act (or ESSA), an overhaul of federal education law.
Skilliter said, that passed with bipartisan support, ESSA represents a shift from broad federal oversight of primary and secondary education to greater flexibility and decision making at the state and local levels. The law replaces the No Child Left Behind Act.

Ohio Northern University professor of communication arts emeritus, Professor Nils Riess has been awarded the Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana from the Republic of Estonia.
The Republic of Estonia bestows as gratitude and recognition various state decorations on persons whose activities have maintained and reinforced the independent Estonian state.
Professor Riess has been chosen as a recipient of this highly prestigious award in recognition for the contributions he has made for the republic.
Glenda L. Conley, age 72, died on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 6:26 am at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
She was born on February 3, 1945 in Whitaker, Kentucky to Johnnie and Mary (Blair) Marshall. Her father Johnnie Marshall and Mother Mary VanHoose preceded her in death. On August 31, 1962 Glenda married Tribue Conley and he died on March 31, 1983.
Glenda was a dental assistant for Dr. Shambarger's office of Ada for 19 years, she retired in 2001. She attended the Free Will Baptist Church, McGuffey.
