ADA - Visiting McComb forged a 12-0 fourth quarter flurry to upend Ada 49-43 in non-league boys basketball action Saturday night.

The difficult defeat dropped the Bulldog record to 4-15, while the Panthers improved to 3-13 with the victory.

"We had 18 turnovers and shot 29 percent from the foul line, you're not going to beat anyone that way," said Ada first-year head coach Dre White.

"You have to give McComb credit. They came out and played harder, they knew this was one they could possibly get. They came out and proved it."

There's an Asian Valentine tradition spread over three months

By Monty Siekerman
The ONU World Student Organization held a Valentine's party on campus Saturday, and members found out that the Asians do it up big time. Asians mark Feb. 14, March 14, and April 14 as Valentines.

On Feb. 14, the girls give roses or chocolate to the guys as a sign of affection. The next month, known as White Day, the guys return the favor.

Finally, in mid April the singles who received no gifts the prior two months gather together on what is known as Black Day and eat a dish called black noodles.

Northern will then take on area-rival Bluffton on Sept. 13 before traveling to Springfield to compete in the Wittenberg Invitational Sept. 15-16.

ONU returns to the ONU Sports Center on Sept. 20 as they play host to Kenyon.

(Paul Logsdon, longtime director of Heterick Memorial Library, will provide the Ada Icon with historical information and photos about Ada/ONU. After retiring as library director, he became University Arcihvist. Paul has gained a wealth of knowledge about the village and university over the years and willingly has shared his expertise whenever the town or gown published anniversary booklets.)

Ada was home to more than one school of learning in the early 1900s. Paul Logsdon, ONU archivist and local historian, dug up some information and a photo of the Northwestern Ohio School of Piano Tuning.

Ice skates, skis, sleds...roller blades? Mallory Taylor found the sidewalk clear, so why not travel by rollerblade? She moves a long in front of snow-covered pine trees at Main and College on Thursday afternoon. Winter of 2016-17 has lacked snow, which has been OK with most people, but not for those who make a living at snow removal or for kids who earn some extra cash by clearing neighbors' sidewalks.
