LIMA BATH - The Ada cross country teams competed in another warm meet at the Bath Invitational Tuesday evening.

"It is meets like this that remind me that cross country is probably the friendliest sport around," said coach Josh Klein. "Our times were a direct result of the heat. It is a really cool experience to see fellow coaches, crowd members, and other athletes rally around one another when someone was struggling, or simply walking because they were overheated."  

Joyce Elaine Cupples, 74, was welcomed home by God on September 27, 2017, at the home of her daughter in Monticello, WI after a 2 year battle with metastatic ovarian cancer. 

Joyce was born on Feburary 12, 1943 in Bluffton to the late Grant Wayne and Pauline Mae (Badertscher) Zimmerman. 

She was proceded in death by her husband John Fox, of Ada, Ohio and was married to Robert Cupples on August 7th, 2010.

ADA - The host Ada girls soccer team lost a 9-1 bout to local non-league rival Cory-Rawson Wednesday evening.

 

Ada fell to 2-8 with the defeat.

 

Katie Butterfield scored the lone Lady Bulldog goal on an assist from Gizrem Tanriverdi.

 

Ada senior keeper Anney Archer made seven saves in goal, while Kenzie Long added six saves. C-R out-shot the Bulldogs, 22-5.

 

Ada hosts Coldwater Saturday, September 30 at 10 a.m.

Meri Skilliter, Ada Schools superintendent, spoke at the Lions Club meeting on Wednesday. She discussed the need for passing the renewal levy in November to continue the remarkable education provided to students in the school district.

Dr. Jed Marquart, professor of mechanical engineering, was elected to the board of directors of the National Space Grant Foundation at the National Council of NASA Space Grant Directors fall meeting in Grand Forks

Marquart is the director of the Ohio Space Grant Foundation. The Foundation contributes to the nation’s science enterprise by funding research, education and public service projects through a national network of 52 university-based Space Grant consortia.

Ada's own Melina Woods is a candidate for the Maxpreps/JJHuddle Ohio high school athlete of the week.

Students in Tony Dyer's agricultural education classes attended the Ohio Farm Science Review near London, Ohio on Sept. 20.

GRANVILLE — The No. 19-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team won its sixth straight match as it swept Denison on Tuesday evening at Livingston Gymnasium in Granville.

The Polar Bears improve to 15-3 overall with the victory, while the Big Red fall to 7-5.

Northern was led offensively by sophomore Sydney Bapst's (Grove City) 10 kills.

Sophomore Chelsea Huppert (Bremen, Ind.) added nine kills, while senior Haley Potters (Wheelersburg/South Webster) and freshman Paige Hartings (Coldwater) chipped in eight kills each.
