Legal scholar Neil S. Siegel will discuss “Law is not enough” during a talk at noon on Friday, April 13 at the ONU law school. Siegel is professor of law and professor of political science at Duke Law School. The talk is free and open to the public.

 

Cleta Mae Stevens, age 93, died on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 9:05 a.m. at Golden Living in LaPorte, IN.

          She was born on March 19, 1925 in Lynch, KY to the late Hezekiah and Phoebe (Keith) Oney.  Cleta married Elmer Stevens who preceded her in death.

          Cleta was a homemaker. 

          She is survived by three sons: Harold (Maureen) Stevens of South Bend, IN, Bill (Deb) Stevens of Michigan City, IN and Eugene Stevens of Lima; two daughters: Brenda (Michael) Conley of Van Wert and Barbara (Bill) Hoffman of TX;  several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren;  and a sister, Helen Bowman of AZ.

Ohio Department of Insurance Director Jillian Froment issued a bulletin requiring heightened protections for Ohio consumers related to prescription drug prices.  

As consumers face rising health care costs, the bulletin provides Ohioans with better information that could help them save money on prescription drugs.  

WILMINGTON — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team continued on its best start in school history with a 22-4 victory at Wilmington on Wednesday

 evening at Williams Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 9-1 overall and are 2-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Quakers fall to 3-7, 0-3.

Junior Peter Hardt (Bethpage, N.Y./Plainedge), freshman Joe O'Connell (Fishers, Ind.) and sophomore Cameron Marous (Brecksville) each had hat tricks for ONU.

ONU sophomores Betsy Naugle of Moon Township, Pa., and Rachel Shipman of Noblesville, Ind., each scored four goals to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team to an 18-4 victory over Wilmington on Wednesday night at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 4-5 overall and are 1-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Quakers fall to 2-8, 0-3.

A representative from Central Collection Agency (CCA) will be on hand from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, at the Depot to assist in filling out village income tax forms. The CCA annually sends someone to Ada to assist in completing the tax forms.

Carlotta Minnella will discuss the current state of U.S.-European Union counter-terrorism cooperation during a talk at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 9 at the Business College. The title of her talk is “Quo Vadimus? U.S.-EU Counter-Terrorism Cooperation in an Age of Uncertainty.” 

 

Her talk will outline the main patterns that have characterized the transition from the Obama to the current Trump administration, focusing both on cooperation on counter-terrorism operations and on preventive initiatives adopted by member states and by the EU at large.

Visit from U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and Administrator of U.S. Small Business Administration

“Humbling” and “amazing” are the two words that Adin Horst used to describe the visit of the Secretary of Agriculture and the Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration who to paid a visit Wednesday morning to his greenhouse located southwest of Alger. “You can’t really put into words the fact they came here,” he said.
