The Ohio Athletic Conference announced its 2019-20 All-OAC honorees Wednesday. A couple Polar Bears made the list.
Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was named Freshman of the Year after averaging 5.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, a team-high 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game. She scored double figures in five games, which included a career-high 15 points in the OAC Tournament semifinals.
Senior Emily Mescher (Maria Stein/Marion Local) earned first-team All-OAC recognition. She poured in a team-best 11.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest.

Eli Esguerra, Langston McClain and Marley Bulerin are all state-bound for OAC Grade School Wrestling Tourney and are members of the Ada Youth Wrestling Club.
Eli wrestled at the OAC Grade School District Championship in Thomas Worthington and took second place in the Division 4 110-pound bracket.
Langston wrestled at the OAC Grade School District Championship in Troy and finished in fourth place in the Division 3 65-pound bracket.
Marley wrestled at the OAC Grade School District Championship in Troy and she placed fourth in the Division 4 110-pound bracket.
The following is a letter to Icon viewers concerning the March 17 Ada school 3/4 precent income tax renewal levy. The Icon welcomes letters on this subject and all must be signed.
Dear Ada Community:
By now you have begun to see signs in the community asking you to vote for a renewal of a ¾% income tax. Mrs. Kim Light, treasurer, and I have had the privilege of speaking to various community groups about it.
A tornado siren will be installed in Ada this spring. A video at the bottom of this story demonstrates the siren.
Michael Harnishfeger, police chief, update Ada’s council on the project on March 3.
The village allocated $35,000 in its budget for a siren. Federal Signal provided the village with a quote of $25,786 to provide and install a high power, directional rotating siren, which the village accepted.
Harnishfeger also contacted a second supplier, Sentry Sirens, and although is awaiting a written quote, anticipated it to be in excess of $43,000.
Tickets are on sale for an annual awards banquet on Thursday, March 19, from 6 p.m., at McIntosh Ballroom, at ONU, for the Soroptimist International clubs of Hardin and Hancock counties.
The evening is in celebration of local women and girls, and includes dinner, speaker, and live entertainment from Noteworthy Community Choir Sweet Notes. The speaker is Coach Kate Witte will discuss how women can be empowered through playing sports.
