Culvert replacement to close U.S. 68

The following highway construction is scheduled to occur within Hardin County. Work is dependent upon weather conditions, and unless otherwise noted, it will take place during daytime hours.

State Route 37 between township Road 147 and township Road 149, approximately two miles south of U.S. 30, will be restricted to one lane on Tuesday, March 10, for tree removal. The work is being performed by Miller Contracting Group, Ottoville.

Here's a photo of Ada's Main Street looking north sometime in the late 1940s or very early 1950s. The truck parked southbound resembles a 1949 Cheverolt. There's even a "woodie" parked on the photographer's side of the street.

What else is in view?
• Peper Drugs
• ODEON - was a a threatre?
• Check out the light poles and the condition of the sidewalks.

Daylong event sponsored by Public Relations Student Society of America

A workshop to help area professionals sharpen their social media skills will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 20 in McIntosh Center at Ohio Northern University. The event is intended to help individuals learn how to optimize their organization’s social media presence.

The Ohio Northern softball team welcomes back a lion's share of its team in 2020. Seven of the eight players who logged at least 100 at-bats in 2019 come back along with two of the four pitchers who saw action last season.

"We do have a solid group returning," ONU head coach Jackie Price said. "We started a good amount of freshmen last year, and for them to get that experience, it was really good. So having those kids come back and teaching our younger kids the expectations and what we want from them, I think that will definitely help us this year."

Collaborative program between Ada schools and ONU HealthWise Pharmacy focus on health

Family Zumba, student health screenings, talks about vaping, mobile clinic tours and a discussion titled “Hidden in plain sight” are all part of a special health-related program in Ada schools in March.

The initiative involves Ada schools in partnership with Ohio Northern University’s HealthWise Pharmacy called Dogs and Bears Get Fit in March.

Megan Stephan, pharmacy resident at ONU, leads the program thanks to two grants from the Buckeye Health Plan and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

High blood pressure is a leading cause of cardiovascular disease. But what do your blood pressure numbers actually mean?

Blood pressure is a key indicator of how the heart and other body systems are functioning. Measuring blood pressure properly and regularly is vital to staying healthy.

There are many devices to measure blood pressure. But lots of little factors can affect the reading.

When the Ohio Northern baseball team takes the diamond this spring, head coach Gene Stechschulte is confident in one thing above all others.

"The bulk of our season will be dependent on how our senior-dominant pitching staff does," Stechschulte said. "It's a pretty good situation, pitching wise, to have those guys. If we stay healthy on the pitching side, that will take some of the pressure off the hitting side."

And while Stechschulte is confident in his pitching staff's ability to be effective and carry the team, he wants even more out of them.
