Ada council made two legislative emergency actions on Tuesday.
Council passed a resolution to work with Dixon Engineering of Lake Odessa, Michigan, for a 2021 inspection and painting of the village 300,000 gallon water tower. An 18-page document attached to this story spells out the agreement.
Council also passes a resolution with Jones and Henry Engineers, Cincinnati, for the installation of a backup power generator automatic transfer switch involving the village water treatment plant.
Ada police Sergeant George Schlub was named Ada police officer of the year for 2020, according to Michael Harnishfeger, police chief. His announcement was made at a recent Ada council meeting.

St. Mark Lutheran Church will hold its "Free Community Meal" Wednesday Feb. 24. The meal will be served at St. Mark, 125 S. Johnson St.
The meal will be served drive up/walk up only and is free to the community. The menu includes meat loaf, scalloped potatoes, corn, fruit cup and cookie.
The meal runs from 5 to 6:30 pm. Current safety protocols will be observed.

MARIA STEIN - Host Marion Local powered its way to a big early lead and convincingly defeated Ada 57-29 in Div. IV first round sectional girls basketball play Thursday evening.
Third-seeded ML led 8-0 and built an 18-4 advantage after one period of play. The Flyers stretched the margin to 34-10 by halftime, led by 33 points at the three-quarter mark, and were never threatened.
Ada kept hustling and won the fourth quarter, 9-4.
Three ML girls tallied double figures as nine of the 15 Flyers who saw action scored in their balanced attack.
Ada school's anticipated teacher and staff vaccination date originally set for Feb. 19 is rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 26.
Meri Skillier, Ada superintendent said, "We were planning a two-hour delay on Friday, Feb. 19, in order to accommodate the Covid 19 vaccination of our teachers and staff.
"As is consistent with this world over the last 11 months, we’ve run into a small roadblock.
"Because of the widespread winter weather systems across the Midwest and the East coast, the shipment of vaccines earmarked for Ada Schools and aimed toward our provider, Ohio Northern University, have been delayed."
Rebekah Walker, Ada High School senior, is the Icon's February artist of the month.
Rebekah is currently in Art 4. She has taken Art 1, Art 2, and Art 3.
"Art has always been a part of my life," she said. "I remember in eighth grade Mr. Wells saw a drawing I was doing and told me that he really wanted me to take high school art. I've taken art every year since. In my free time I enjoy creating drawings and paintings for friends."

Medicine at Midnight is the tenth studio album by American rock band Foo Fighters. Scheduled for 2020, the album was delayed to February 5, 2021 due to the pandemic. Three singles were released ahead of the album: “Shame Shame,” “No Son of Mine,” and "Waiting on a War.”
Dave Grohl called Medicine at Midnight the Foo Fighters’ “Saturday night party album.” It functions as an acknowledgment that the band is often not “fun.” Foo Fighters address that by jumping into disco and dance, the syncopations and polyrhythms. Big riffs battle with the kind of nagging singalong choruses the band has avoided over the years. And it works well.
In Hardin County, farmers have four methods to complete their recertification hours to renew their licenses before July 1.
Certain farming practices require farmers to complete regulatory training. This training ensures that farmers have the knowledge and the tools to properly apply herbicides and fertilizers in a safe manner that protects the public and the environment.
The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) is responsible for many of the implementation plans for farm regulations.
The Pesticide Applicator License is part of the pesticide implementation plan, which farmers must obtain to apply restricted-use pesticides.
