In the fall of 2019, Ohio Northern University introduced esports to the athletic department. At the time it was the newest, fastest-growing trend to hit the collegiate athletics scene; more than three years later, it’s only getting bigger.

The numbers alone tell the story of ONU Esports’ growth: 10 games, 80 varsity and junior varsity players, a gaming club with nearly 300 members, and approximately 40 student workers helping everything run smoothly.

UPDATE:  We've added The Gallery for the Arts, thanks to an Ada Icon reader.

Saturday, November 27 is Small Business Saturday, a “shopping holiday” that supports local businesses. In a village the size of Ada, you might say every day is “shop small” day. It is still a great time to say “thank you for being here” to our local merchants and to participate in the Hardin County Christmas Cookie Walk (at four shops).

Saturday, December 4 is the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce Merry on Main celebration--another great day to shop local.

Here is a sampling of Ada shops and their wares.

Ian Dellifield, a 2021 graduate of Ada High School, will be performing with the Belmont University School of Music World Percussion Ensemble on the televised PBS special, “Christmas at Belmont” on December 20.

Cold shooting plagued the Ada girls basketball team in a 45-32 loss to local non-league foe Cory-Rawson in the home opener Tuesday night. The Lady Hornets never trailed after Ada canned the first basket.

The hosts stayed within three points by halftime, but C-R seized control with a 14-7 third period and never was seriously threatened in the fourth quarter. The Lady Bulldogs fell to 0-2 with the defeat, while C-R improved to 2-1 with the win.

Ada committed 17 turnovers and struggled to shoot well from the field and foul line in the defeat.

"We got out-hustled, we got killed on the boards," said Ada fourth-year head coach Morgan Bass. "They wanted the ball more.
