The Ada boys summer swim team is in a solid third place out of eight teams after the first day of the 40th annual Western Ohio Aquatic League championship meet at the Wapakoneta Community Pool concluded Friday.

Ada's Olivia Agozzino won three races on the first day in the girls 9-10 age bracket.

Lady Alligator Lily Baumgartner (15-18) touched first in two events, and she also swam a leg for the winning Ada medley relay quartet.

The Ada boys trail only Bluffton and Wapakoneta, while the Alligator girls stand seventh out of eight teams.

Due to a forecast for rain, the Family Outdoor Movie Night is cancelled for this evening, July 8, in McGuffey.

HARDIN COUNTY, Ohio–While many areas of Ohio have already successfully harvested wheat, there are fields that still need to be harvested. With rainfall this week, harvest may be delayed. Late harvest coupled with excessive rainfall means more time for late-season mold growth, mycotoxin accumulation, test weight reduction, and sprouting; all of which could result in poor overall grain quality.

Friday, July 8 is the 7th anniversary for Ada's Gallery for the Arts, 115 S Main St. The gallery is a project devised and run by retired art teacher Ruth Roider, who opened the shop when she was downsizing and needed a place to do her own art work.

Roider operates the gallery as a non-profit, cash-only showcase and sales outlet for local artists. She pays the rent and doesn’t take a commission. Every penny goes back to the artists.

It’s not uncommon for Stacey Hensley, director of the Alger Public Library, to hear people say, “I didn’t know Alger had a library!” However, with a population of under 900, the fact is the library at 100 Wagner St. has an outsized impact on its community and also serves as the USV district library.
