Hello Everyone,

Yesterday (7-21-2022) it was brought to the attention of this office that multiple concerning allegations were recently made on social media regarding a local Teens for Christ branch and a few of its members. A letter was also found online that made serious allegations against a resident(s) of Allen County, Ohio.

Through our research we have found that members of various groups and boards throughout the community affiliated with Teens for Christ locally were likely presented with similar allegations via a letter in recent weeks.

Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law law professor Joanne Brant, JD, recently appeared on the half-hour BGSU-TV program The Journal with host Steve Kendall. Brant and Kendall discuss the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling in favor of the state of Mississippi in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which has returned jurisdiction of abortion to the states.

The Hardin County Fair, to be held September 6-11, provides 111 pages of information about the 2022 fair in the fair book HERE.

  • Junior Fair Entries Close July 31
  • Open Class Entries: August 1 - 26

Ada residents and groups with entries can send information to the Icon at [email protected].

On July 22, 2022, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention determined Allen County is at a HIGH community risk for transmission of COVID-19.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, Lima Memorial Health System will follow CDC guidance and require all patients, visitors, associates and vendors to wear a mask while indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Universal masking will be required at all Lima Memorial facilities, effective immediately Friday, July 22.

Lima Memorial will continually evaluate its safety measures and update them in accordance with COVID-19 guidance.

With the start of school, fall sports and the Hardin County Fair on the horizon, the last week of July is a great time for getting our ducks in a row.

“A kid in the newsroom” is the subtitle of Carl Bernstein's new book, a memoir of his start in journalism. Chasing History (Thorndike Press, ISBN- 13: 978-4328-9865-6) is Bernstein's account of his own history during a most interesting time in our country's historically turbulent 1950s and early ‘60s.

The time frame starts while Eisenhower is president and John F. Kennedy is a senator. Richard Nixon is vice president. The country is stagnant because of Eisenhower's tired style of ruling, after World War II's intensity and death toll.
