JULY 16 MEDIA RELEASE__The Hardin County Sheriff's Office is saddened to report the death of Detective Bryan Bodine, on Thursday, July 15, 2025.
Detective Bodine had served the citizens of Hardin County for the past 12 years as an enforcement deputy, K-9 handler, and detective. He will be sadly missed as a valued friend and member of the Sheriff's office staff.
Special appreciation is extended to Logan County Sheriff Randall Dodds and his staff for their assistance during this time, as well as to numerous other Law Enforcement and first responder agencies who have assisted and offered their support.
JULY 15 MEDIA RELEASE__The Ada Rotary Club, in conjunction with the MW Pony Pals Horse Show, is hosting an Ice Cream Social and Shredded Chicken Cook-off on Saturday, July 26.
The event will take place at the Ada War Memorial Park from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the horse arena (dog park entrance).

On Mon., Aug.11 at 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will host a Project Wild Workshop at the McElroy Environmental Education Center, 2355 Ada Rd., Lima, Ohio.
Project WILD is a program dedicated to providing wildlife-based conservation and environmental education to K-12 students within an interdisciplinary framework. Join JAMPD Naturalists and Ohio Division of Wildlife staff as you gain knowledge and resources. This workshop is free to attend, and all classroom materials and manuals are provided free of charge through the Ohio Division of Wildlife.
The Ada High School swim team will be holding a swimming and stroke clinic on August 4-8 at the Municipal Pool. Swimmers K-8 of all ability levels are welcome.

The intersection of State Route 81 and County Road 15, which is located 2.5 miles west of the Village of Ada, has been identified as an upcoming ODOT Intersection Safety Project slated for the year 2030.
Nelson D. Williams, age 69, of Harrod, passed away on July 13, 2025 at his home.
He was born on September 1, 1955 in Lima, Ohio to the late Richard and Donna (Bechdolt) Williams. On August 19, 1989 Nelson married Patty Bodine and she survives in Harrod.
Also surviving is his son, Ryan (Trinity) Ward of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two grandchildren: Nico and Noah; siblings: Robert (Jane) Williams of Harrod and Virginia (Garis) Pugh of Huntsville; and nephew and nieces: James, Stacey and Angela.
Nelson was the vice president for Williams Excavating. He loved to fly and earned his pilot’s license. Nelson also enjoyed traveling, scuba diving and fishing.

A breezy yet sultry day in the groves of Ada’s War Memorial Park was the scene of the 2025 Park in the Park car show hosted by Ada VFW Post 3891. Mother Nature crashed the party with heavy thunderstorms prior to the anticipated 4:00 p.m. awards and raffle drawings, leading to a slightly abbreviated schedule.
