The Findlay Courier has reported that Gabriel Gratz of Ada was killed in a two-vehicle crash at 7:55 a.m. on Thursday, January 22.

Gratz was driving north on State Route 235 near Township Rd. 27 when he entered the southbound lane and struck a vehicle driven by Nicole Neely of Waterville.

Gratz was pronounced dead at the scene and Neely was transported to St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.

Details were provided by the Hancock County Sheriff's Office.

Panthers heat up in second half

McCOMB__The visiting Ada High School girls basketball team fell victim to a hot-shooting second half as they lost 58-36 to Blanchard Valley Conference foe McComb on Thursday, January 22.

The game was close at halftime, with Ada trailing just 20-17. Junior guard Kenley Poling drained two triples to keep the Bulldogs within 14-7 after the first period. 

Ada then won the second stanza 10-6, by holding the Panthers to two field goals. But McComb poured in 19 points in each of the third and fourth periods to pull away and win by 22.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Saturday-Sunday, January 24-25 with the possibility of 4-7 inches of snow.

When the Village of Ada made an emergency announcement regarding drinking water on January 16, the Village alert system notified subscribers by email and, a little later that evening, the Ada Police Department notified its subscribers via the Nixle System. The Ada Council held a regular meeting on Tuesday, January 20 with all members present and Mayor Dave Retterer presiding. No pending legislation or ordinances were on the agenda for the evening. The full meeting packet is HERE.

WATER EMERGENCY
Village resident Anita Stephenson was invited to address Council to express her concerns in the wake of the drinking water issue in which lime was overfed at the village’s water treatment plant on Friday, January 16.

Cruisin’ was released by Motown Records on August 20, 1979, and would hit number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.  The song was sung by Smokey Robinson and he wrote the lyrics with fellow Miracles member Marv Tarplin. The song was a bigger hit in New Zealand, where it hit #1.  The lyrics never indicate how one is cruising along, whether it be in a car, a boat or another form of transportation.

The Lima News has reported that several people were injured in a January 19 crash involving a mini van and a Robinaugh EMS ambulance.

The incident occurred around 3:42 a.m. on State Route 309 between Township Road 15 and Township Road 25 in Liberty Township, Hardin County.

The van, operated by Monte Allen, 41, Lima, crossed the center line and struck a westbound ambulance, which overturned.

Occupants were extricated by first responders. Air and ground ambulances were used to transport the patients. The report said injuries wre not life-threatening.

The accident remains under investigation.
