James P. “Jim” Towey, 75, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021, at 5:20 p.m. at his residence.
He was born on May 22, 1945, in Ada, Ohio, to the late Leonard “Pat” and Evelyn (Wilcox) Towey. On August 12, 1972, Jim married Jan M. Beining and she survives in Ada.
Jim retired after 30 years from Allen East High School where he was a science teacher. He also worked as a farmer, and served as the tennis coach for St. Marys High School, where they were four time Western Buckeye League champions. Jim also coached 9th grade basketball at St. Marys and Allen East. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of Ada.

Football
Ohio Northern built a 35-3 third quarter lead and held off a furious rally to post a 35-22 football victory over Wilmington on chilly Friday night at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 3-0 overall and are 3-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Quakers fall to 2-2, 2-2.
Senior Brody Hahn (Louisville) ran for a 42-yard touchdown and threw for four more scores as ONU built a 35-3 lead with 5:23 left in the third quarter.
Wilmington scored on three of its next four possessions to pull within 35-22 with 3:45 left in the game.
