KENTON - Host Kenton blew open a close game with a 19-3 second period and rolled to a 73-41 win over Hardin County rival Ada in non-conference boys basketball play Saturday night.
The purple and gold drop to 3-14 with the defeat, while the Wildcats improve to 9-5 after the victory.
Ada trailed by only two late in a high-scoring first period. But then Kenton reeled off 16 unanswered points to take control, and the hosts were never threatened again.

Good fortune awaited Susan Putt who was a contestant on Wheel of Fortune, which was telecast Thursday evening. Susan, a retired ONU English professor, won a trip to Iceland and cash prizes that totaled $24,168.
She mentioned Ohio Northern as her former place of employment and cheerily said, “Go ‘Bears” when host Pat Sajak introduced her.
She acknowledged her husband Harold, a retired math prof, along with her sister Judy and friends Becky and Linda who were in the audience to root her on.

It was a whiteout at King-Horn Saturday when the men’s basketball team played Capital and those attending opened their wallets and purses to give to cystic fibrosis research.
The appeal for funds hoped to raise about $2,000, bringing the total to near $50,000 since the CF fundraisers began at Northern. The whiteout included white shirts and towels for spectators.
The team was dressed in white except for a touch of orange. Even the polar bear was appropriately dressed in white, but Klondike always is.
