Ada loves a parade and these photos prove it.

This year's Harvest and Herb Festival parade was one of the largest ever in the history of the fest'. Junior Weihrauch of Arlington, parade director, brought in several out-of-town groups to add to the familiar Ada units.

Here's a glimpse of parade captured by Monty Siekerman.

I have seen an intense downpour, where cars pulled over to the side of the road for 10-15 minutes, until it subsided. But during those 4 days it rained with that intensity for hours on end.

Editor's note. A longtime Ada resident, visiting her two adult daughters in Texas, got caught in the devastating winds and flooding of Hurricane Harvey. Both my daughters were born and raised here in Ada.  Both went to school K-12 at Ada Schools.  Csilla and her husband moved to Texas in 2001.  Aniko and her family moved there 6 weeks ago.  I traveled out to see them and to celebrate my birthday with them.

Barbara J. Klingler, age 83, died on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at her residence in Ada surrounded by her family and friends. 

She was born on July 25, 1934 in Troy, Ohio to Richard Clayton and Annabelle (Price) Hetrick. Her father, Richard Clayton Hetrick died in 1938. 

Her mother, Annabelle later married James O. Orders who adopted Barbara and her sister. Her mother, Annabelle died in 2004 and her father, James died in 1986. 

On October 2, 1954 Barbara married Leonard E. Klingler and he preceded her in death on July 3, 2003. 

Here's the staff of the The Ada High School newspaper "The Voice, during the 1967-68 school year. Staff names are under the photo, one-half century later.

This plate on a Corvette was spotted at the County Line Church of the Brethren car show in July. Maybe the son has a matching Corvette, too.

GAMBIER — Freshman Sabine Worthoff (West Chester/Mount Notre Dame) and senior Lynn Kelly (Mason) led the Ohio Northern women's tennis team at the Kenyon Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Vandenburg Courts.

Worthoff went 2-1 and finished second in the No. 6 singles flight and Kelly went 2-1 and finished third in the No. 2 singles flight.

The tournament consists of eight singles flights and four doubles flights with eight competitors in each. Each player will play three times and place positions 1-8 in each of the flights.

Sophomore Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) also went 2-1 and finished third in the seventh singles flight.
