Four Troop 124 scouts moved up in rank or received merit badges at the Fall Court of Honor held at the scout cabin in the Ada War Memorial Park.
• Donald Waters attained the Life rank only one step away from Eagle.
• Jadon Holbrook earned the first of seven ranks by becoming a Scout.
• Cooper Dappert completed his Space Exploration merit badge.
• Robby Waters reached the coveted Boy Scouts of America First Class rank.
Don Spar is the scoutmaster and Tom Lehman is the assistant scout master of Troop 124.
Ada High School's football team tuned up for the 2019 season in a Saturday scrimmage on the ONU field vs. Perry. The Icon took advantage of the event to photograph many of the Ada fans watching the action. Here is that series of photos.
Women’s team
The Ohio Northern women's golf program will look to take another step forward in 2019-20. The Polar Bears have their vision fixed on the top of the conference following a fourth-place finish in 2018-19.
"I feel real confident with the women's team," seventh-year head coach Chad Bucci said. "This is my best recruiting class, and I see the team doing exceptionally well."
The success of Northern will likely stem from junior Lydia Cranmer (Farmington Hills, Mich./Ladywood). She won four of the seven tournaments she teed it up in last season.

The Ada girls soccer team crushed visiting Marion Harding 11-0 Saturday to win their home opener.
The win lifted the Lady Bulldog record to 1-2.
Ada senior Katie Butterfield set a program record for goals in a single game with five scores. Senior Ella Poling surpassed the school career assist record with three assists vs. MH to run her total to 17.
"We started very strong, scoring in the first two minutes," said Ada head coach Doug Poling. "We never looked back, scoring five more times before half."
