First AHS team to advance to regional softball final

The Ada High School softball team will play Gibsonburg in the regional finals Friday, May 30 at 5 p.m. in Findlay. “Gibsonburg is a very solid team,” said coach Jeff Bassitt. “We will have to bring our A game.”
It marks the first time Ada has advanced to a regional final in program history. The Bulldogs lost a heartbreaker to Defiance Tinora 3-2 in eight innings at the 2018 Findlay regional semis.
FINDLAY – The Ada High School softball team built a lead on pitching and power, then held off a late rally to defeat Montpelier 6-4 in a Div. VI regional semifinal battle Wednesday afternoon, May 28, at Findlay’s Marathon Diamonds Flag City complex.
The Bulldog girls went ahead 6-1 behind late home runs from senior sluggers Tess Griffith and Natilyn McClain.
The Locomotives rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and had the tying run at the plate, but Ada got the last two outs to preserve the lead and secure the win.
MAY 28 MEDIA RELEASE__Area Agency on Aging 3 is facing restructuring in the coming months due to a nonrenewal of a private provider contract. Area Agency on Aging 3 has been under contract to provide 19-counties throughout Western Ohio with case management services since 2018.
The privately held contract company will no longer provide these services and has tendered nonrenewal to several other organizations. Regretfully, due to the contract’s nonrenewal, the agency will be reducing staff numbers on July 1, 2025.
Olive Jeannette (Moorman) Morgan, age 88, formerly of Jamestown, Ohio, passed away on May 27, 2025 at Vancrest of Ada Assisted Living. She was born February 25, 1937 in St. Ignace to Ralph and Olive J. (Boyd) Moorman. She married Carl W. Morgan on June 26, 1970.
Jeannette is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret (Moorman) Hall and Merl E. Hall of LaFayette; two nephews: Scott (Darla) Hall of LaFayette and Scott (Heather) Morgan of Jamestown; four nieces: Erin (Larry) Price of Mt. Cory, Jennifer (Brian) Stevens of Bellefontaine, Ester (Pat) Browder of Fairborn and Cherie (Kevin) McCormick of Clayton; along with many great and great-great nephews and nieces.
MAY 27 MEDIA RELEASE___Northwest Ohio – Wildlife District Two
During the 2024-25 white-tailed deer gun hunting season, State Wildlife Officer Jason Porinchok, assigned to Putnam County, observed a hunter wearing only a hunter-orange hat. Hunters are required to wear an orange vest, coat, jacket, or coveralls during deer gun hunting seasons. Officer Porinchok contacted the hunter and issued a citation for not wearing the required hunter orange. The hunter paid a $125 fine in addition to court costs in Putnam County Court.
