Max Gauthier, Ada Public Library’s I.T. AmeriCorps volunteer, told Ada Kiwanis members about his work at the library during the club's recent meeting.

Gauthier serves with Guiding Ohio Online. 

The Ada Public Library is the only location in the community that provides free internet access and digital literacy training.

The goals of Guiding Ohio Online include to participate in online government, search and apply for jobs online, and connect with family online. 

He holds classes for llibrary patrons on Windows 10, smart phone usage, and coding classes for teens.  He also helps to train the library staff.

A suspect has been apprehended in the recent theft at Keith's Hardware, according to Michael Harnishfeger, Ada police chief.

The Hispanic male has been identified and is currently in custody in Wyandot County on an unrelated Burglary charge.

Please note that we will not publicly identify him until formal charges are made locally. This subject did not live in Ada.

During the month of July, Extension rainfall reporters recorded an average of 1.68 inches of rain in Hardin County. 

Last year, the average rainfall for July was 4.66 inches.  The extremely dry month had lower rainfall totals in the northern half of the county, although most areas in the southern half recorded low rainfall amounts as well.

Liberty Township recorder, Phil Epley, reports rainfall at 1.24 inches and 11.01 inches for the growing season.

Dale Rapp in Dudley Township received 4.32 inches of rain for the month, the most of any of the township sites. The least rain in July, 0.55 inches, was collected in Blanchard Township by Crop Production Services.

Ohio Northern University’s golf team entry in the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance Aug. 12 golf scramble finished first place low net.

Team members were Tom Simmons, Jeff Coleman, Chad Bucci and Gene Stechschulte posting a  score of 48.2.

This year’s scramble at Veterans memorial Park Golf Course, Kenton, had 30 teams and 120 golfers.

All winners follow:

• First place Low Gross - Valicor Environmental Services with Todd Pees, Scott Merideth, Tracy Temple and Travis Temple posting a score of 52.8.

A question in the minds of many Ada coffee drinkers is: "When will the new Cosi open?" Answers range from a "soft" opening on Thursday all the way to a couple weeks away when the parking lot is sealed. The hold up is approval from state inspections, as the Icon understands it. The new sign is up and Ken Collins photographed the sign installation. His photos of the project are below.
