ONU’s Mu Delta chapter of Beta Alpha Psi recognized as superior chapter
Ohio Northern University’s Mu Delta chapter of Beta Alpha Psi was recognized as a Superior Chapter for the 2011-12 academic year. In recognition of this achievement, the chapter received a check for $275 sponsored by the KPMG Foundation.
Beta Alpha Psi, an honorary organization for accounting and financial information students, achieved a superior rating for excelling in service to the profession, the campus and the community.
Dexter Woods, ONU professor of business administration, also received recognition for his leadership of the organization during the 2011-12 academic year.
To achieve the high rating of Superior Chapter, Beta Alpha Psi members complete service activities and professional activities. Members are encouraged to excel in their areas of study while giving back to the community and campus.
The largest project completed last year, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, combined these two areas to allow members to learn about income taxes and help the community by filing income tax returns for community members at no charge.
Other activities undertaken by Mu Delta chapter members include tutoring other students in accounting and finance, attending conferences to expand their knowledge of finance professions, and participating in meetings with professionals in finance and accounting careers as a way to network and prepare for careers after graduation.
