Borrowing and changing the words of Langston Hughes, "Let the water fountain (his word: rain) sing you a lullaby." This fountain in front of The Freed Center in many ways is Ada's fountain of youth, as it is passed by daily by a younger generation.
The Icon wishes all viewers a happy and long Fourth of July weekend.
Our own celebration begins a little early, as we will take a few days off between now and the first of the week. Don’t worry, stories will continue to appear, just on a slower schedule. And, some of the regular weekly features are taking the week off.
In the meantime, here's a patriotic post card showing the "Soldiers Monument and Pennsylvania Railroad Depot in Ada." The post card mailed Sept. 11, 1914, from Ada to Findlay from Mina Klingler to Harry Hahn in Findlay.

VAN WERT - The Ada swim team won the overall and boys meets at Van Wert in the final West Ohio Aquatic League regular season dual event of the summer season Monday night.
Ada beat the Marlins 340-255 in the combined boys/girls team score to lift the overall Alligator summer record to 3-4.
The Gator boys defeated the Msrlin males 196-111, while the Ada girls were edged 161-144 by the hosts indoors at the Van Wert YMCA.
The Alligator boys team improved to 4-3 with the victory, while the Ada girls squad ended up 2-5 in dual meets this summer.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced the football region assignments for the upcoming 2021 season on Tuesday.
Ada will be in Division VII, Region 26. See map below -
The 10-week regular-season begins the week of August 16, with the top 16 schools in each region qualifying for the playoffs that begin October 29-30.
As previously announced, schools’ divisional assignments for the upcoming 2021-22 school year will remain the same as the 2020-21 school year in all sports.
