Game in honor of Erin Robinson

This year’s Ada volleyball game, drawing attention to “Fight for The Cure,” is in honor of the mother of one of the Bulldog players.

Erin Robinson, mother of Ada’s freshman volleyball player, Daicy Robinson, will be recognized at the game, scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Erin is currently winning her second battle with cancer. She has chosen the IBC Network Foundation, as recipient of the proceeds raised this year in coordination with this event.

Proceeds will be raised through a t-shirt sale, gift baskets that will be raffled off at the game and other donations.

Thumb pain is a common complaint that patients have in our orthopedic clinic. It is most common near the wrist at the “snuffbox” area or basilar region of the thumb. This pain can be very debilitating because it affects all aspects of daily living that require using the hand for grip.

Grasping gardening tools, kitchen aids or racquets as well opening jars can be particularly problematic. A variety of causes for this pain can be identified: tendonitis, arthritis, fracture and nerve compression.

A lot of exciting things in the works and more information will be coming soon

Ada Area Chamber of Commerce is working on plans for the annual Merry on Main, according to Health Cox, chamber president.

This year’s event is moved from the evening to the afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5.

“This is the same day that the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance is possibly doing its parade, so we wanted to make this a fun all-day event for Ada and Hardin County,” said Cox.

“We have a lot of exciting things in the works and more information will be coming very soon,” she added.

What we are experiencing is a systemic issue that has to be addressed

Icon viewers:
The news this week of the resignation of Coach White has prompted me to write this letter. I am sad and somewhat angered that Ada athletics have gotten to this point.

My family, in one way or another, has been involved in Ada athletics since the late 1970s.  This has included myself, my siblings, my children, nieces and nephews and now my grandchildren. Our family has participated in football, basketball, baseball, tennis, soccer, volleyball, softball, track, cheerleading and even a bit of coaching at Ada.

So it is easy to see and say that we care a great deal about Ada athletics.
