Part of BVHS "State of Our Organization" series • 2 p.m. today on Facebook live

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) will host a Facebook Live titled “Our Response to COVID-19,” a part of the “State of Our Organization” series, today  (Thursday, Oct. 8) from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. 

BVHS President and CEO Scott Malaney and Dr. William Kose, vice president of special projects, will discuss the COVID-19 situation, a COVID-19 vaccine and how it will impact flu season. The event will be streamed on the health system’s Facebook page:

Community members can “like” the corporate Facebook account of BVHS and visit the page to watch live.

Riverdale downs Ada girls' soccer team

MT. BLANCHARD - The visiting Ada girls soccer team lost 7-1 at Riverdale in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association match Wednesday evening.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in NCOSA action with the loss. The Lady Falcons improved to 7-6-1 and 4-1 in the NCOSA standings after the victory.

A strong start gave Riverdale a 5-0 lead at the half, but the Bulldog girls battled them to a 2-1 second half.

Strong-legged senior standout Brenna Hissong scored the lone Ada goal off a free kick after intermission.

TGMA Gospel Music presents a gospel praise gathering this weekend.

The event is at 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, at Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God, 2040 Township Road 120, Alger.

Performers include Arnold Coy, HeartSong, Ed Ewing, One Voice, Ken Ziegler, Miss Amanda, Dee Runion, Randy Long, Farley Family Singers and the Gospel Praise Gathering Choir.

Get blown away by the end of hurricane season.

John Grisham scores again.

In Camino Winds (Doubleday ISBN 978-385-5493-8) John Grisham sets his opening during Hurricane Leo, and a questionable death of one of Camino Island's writers.

The book is set around one Bruce Cable, owner of Bay Books, the book store and anchor for all of the island's authors. The book follows Bruce, a character from the previous novel “Camino Island, as he investigates Nelson Kerr's presumed murder. With a group of friends like Bob, Nick, and Larry they decide that  Nelson's death was committed by a mysterious woman named Ingrid.

Eleanor H and Robert W. Biggs Chair in the Arts

FROM ONU ARTS & DESIGN FACEBOOK - Associate Professor of Art Melissa Eddings Mancuso has accepted the endowed chair in the arts from Ohio Northern President, Dr. Daniel Dibiasio. The announcement was posted on Oct. 7.

The Eleanor H. and Robert W. Biggs Chair in the Arts recognizes either an associate or full professor in music, theatre arts, or art & design. 

Melissa is an associate professor of art in the School of Visual & Performing Arts.

She has taught at ONU since 1997, served as chair for the department of Art & Design from 2000–2002, and currently teaches painting, printmaking, book arts, and drawing courses.

Ada HS marching band performs Friday night

Ada High School marching band will performance its competition show, pregame and stand tunes on Friday.

The performance is from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9, at the Ada football stadium hosted by the Ada Music Boosters.

According to the Boosters:
"Come join the Ada High School marching band as we perform our competition show, pregame, and stand tunes for the Ada community.

"Although this year has been unpredictable, the students have worked diligently since the summer months to put together a wonderful performance.

"Please know that all social distancing and mask wearing protocols will be followed strictly at this event.
