ONU's pharmacy personalized medicine education website receives certification
A website created by the student chapters of the Personalized Medicine Coalition (PMC) at the Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy and the University of Florida College of Pharmacy has received certification from the Health on the Net (HON) Foundation.
The public education website, called “Drugs and Genes,” (drugsandgenes.com) provides background information on DNA and genetics related to drugs and introduces drug-gene interactions. The mission of the website is to provide the general public with reliable, up-to-date information regarding genetic data and how it relates to the use of particular medications in a way that is both useful and easy to understand.
The PMC, representing scientists, patients, providers and payers, promotes the understanding and adoption of personalized medicine concepts, services and products to benefit patients and the health system.
The HON Foundation promotes and guides the deployment of useful and reliable online health information and its appropriate and efficient use. Created in 1995, HON is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization accredited to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. For 15 years, HON has focused on the essential question of the provisions of health information to citizens, information that respects ethical standards.
