LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Ohio Northern softball team dropped a hard-fought 3-0, 3-2 twinbill at Transylvania (Ky.) in its regular season final on Monday evening at John & Donna Hall Field.
The Polar Bears fall to 27-9 overall, while the Pioneers improve to 30-6.
Defense took over game one, as the two teams hit a combined five hits.
The Pioneers were able to score three runs in the bottom of the third inning and would hold on to claim the game one victory.
ONU freshman Vinh Thai (Galloway/St. Charles) earned his first career Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week nod this week for his efforts.
The freshman led ONU to a 2-1 week to wrap up its regular season and prepare for this week's OAC Tournament.
Thai posted a 4-1 record last week, including a 2-1 record at No. 1 singles and a 2-0 record at No. 1 doubles.
Thai helped ONU clinch the No. 3 seed in the OAC Tournament after leading ONU to a 6-3 victory over Otterbein to close out OAC play.
