The Ada Public Library is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a BOOKS for CHILDREN Grant from the Libri Foundation, according to Amanda Bennett, library director.
Through this grant, the Ada Public Library will receive:
Volunteers with the American Red Cross of Hardin County responded to a home on Sunday in Kenton.
Red Cross volunteers Daryl Flowers and Amy Huber responded to the call for help at the home on Levings Street and provided the family of three, one adult and two children, with temporary shelter and assistance for immediate needs such as food and clothing.
They also provided the family with Red Cross comfort kits of personal hygiene items.
Red Cross volunteers will continue to work with the family, providing additional assistance as needed and help with recovery planning including information, resources and referrals.
Susie H. Downing, 94, died on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 3:10 p.m. at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.
She was born on Oct. 6, 1921, in Kenton, to Leslie and Cordie (Spradlin) Risner who preceded her in death. On Nov. 29, 1941, she married Clarence E. Downing and he died on March 11, 1963.
Susie was a homemaker and a former medical secretary at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima for many years. She was a member of the County Line Church of the Brethren, rural Ada.
Susie is survived by her two sons: Bud (Eva) Downing of Lima and David Downing of Findlay; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
The Ohio Northern University Department of Music presents a Steel Band Day concert featuring the Glass City Steel from the Toledo Schools for the Arts, the Clark Montessori Steel Band and The Wild Steel-ions in Presser Hall on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 5 p.m.
