Judy Williams is an Ada school students' favorite - for 45 school years

By Monty Siekerman
Ada school children are wishing Judy Williams a happy summer.

There is a poster of her that hangs in the elementary hallway. It reads, “Help Grandma Judy Get Ready for Summer.” The kids add stickers to the poster, like an inflatable duck, to signify summer fun. In the poster, Judy is found near a pond relaxing in a lounge chair, donning a summer hat, sitting under a multicolored umbrella, and wearing unique sunglasses.

9-time NCAA Champion and a 13-time All-American

ONU senior  Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Div. III Female National Track Athlete of the Year for her efforts during the 2018 outdoor season.

These awards were voted on by USTFCCCA member coaches based on performances both at this past weekend's NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in La Crosse, Wisc., as well as performances throughout the entire regular season.

During the outdoor season, Richards was named the USTFCCCA Div. III National Track Athlete of the Week in back-to-back weeks in April.

Summer is here and so is the time for Red Cross Swimming Lessons!  As in past years the Ada Learn To Swim Program is in need of aides to assist with the lessons.

Ages 12 and up, including adults are encouraged to sign up to help others learn swimming skills. As little as an hour each day of lessons is helpful.  Lessons begin the week of July 16 for 2 weeks, Monday through Friday each week.

Help is needed on deck for paperwork as well as in the water.  You do not need to be a good swimmer to help others...we'll help you as well:) A training session will be held on TUESDAY, July 10, from 9-11 am.

Sponsored by the Hardin County Democratic Party.
Ada War Memorial Park.
