NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Senior Alex Sibila (Zionsville, Ind.) and junior Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) each competed on the first day of Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) to lead the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team on Wednesdayafternoon.
No team scores were kept in the meet.
Sibila led the way, tying his career-high mark in the high jump with a fourth place finish and leap of 6' 7".
McVey competed in the 5,000-meter run, where he finished 10th overall in 14:52.18.
NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Junior Maddy Reed (Piketon) won the pole vault, while sophomore Maggie Krause (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) finished third in the event to lead the No. 9-ranked Ohio Northern women's track and field team on day one of the Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) on Wednesday afternoon.

Reed won the event with a vault of 12' 10.75", while Krause finished third in the event with a leap of 12' 6.75".
Ohio Northern seniors Kirsten Lightel (Tallmadge) and Jenna Hollar (Lima/Bath) were named Second Team All-Central Region in voting conducted by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Lightel is now a four-time All-Region honoree and a four-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference award winner.
She is ONU's all-time career leader with 512 strikeouts and a 1.45 ERA and her 66 victories tied the ONU career mark.
She pitched in 103 games during her four seasons as a Polar Bears, posting a 66-22 record with three saves and pitched a school record 602.1 innings.
Ohio Northern University President Dr. Dan DiBiasio held a special ceremony for graduating seniors Leanna Henry (West Jefferson) and Miranda Huddle (Versailles) on Tuesday.
Henry and Huddle are members of the ONU softball team and missed the University's graduation ceremony on Sunday as they were competing in the NCAA III Notre Dame, Indiana Regional Tournament.
Ohio Northern reached the finals with victories over Case Western Reserve and No. 19-ranked Saint Mary's (Ind.) on Friday and Saturday, but were eliminated in the championship game on Sunday by Case.
Honor students for the Ada High School class of 2018 were announced this week by Ada schools.

Ada seniors honors banquet is tonight (Wednesday). The seniors final day in school is May 21. Ada HS baccalaaureate in the ONU chapel on May 23. The 2018 commencement is May 27.
The annual Liberty Conservation Club fishing derby will be held Sunday and, if you are lucky enough to catch a tagged catfish named Big Liberty, you win $100. Other fish are tagged, as well, for prizes ranging from money to items donated by local businesses, such as pizza.
About 500 fish have been added to the lake this week, including trout, bass, bluegill, and catfish.
Derby setup begins at 9 a.m., children fish from 12:30-1:30, adults fish from 2-5 p.m.
Family memberships are $20 for the year. Memberships can be purchased at the derby.
