This is the fourth and final installment of the adventures of Bi, the little polar bear from the Arctic who came to visit his friend Klondike during an especially cold winter in Ada.
Today, Bi finds King-Horn/Sports Center on campus and is amazed at all the polar bears he found there.
Yes, the athletic complex has roaring, mean-looking bears, then there are some not so scary. He cuddles up to a coed on the bleachers, even finds a polar bear face made of tile on one of the walls.
Ada school language arts teacher, Erica Shadley was recognized by State of Ohio Superintendent of Schools, Paolo DeMaria, for an instructional unit centered on the book, Wonder, by R.J. Palacio.
Recently made into a movie, Wonder tells the story of Augie Pullman, and centers on themes of kindness and acceptance.
State Superintendent DeMaria purchased a grade level set of the sequel, Auggie and Me, in recognition of Shadley’s unit, in which students focused on kindness. (See photo attached)
ONU senior Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 29-Feb. 5 for his efforts at the Camel City Elite Races in Winston-Salem, North Carolina during the weekend.
Molinaro earned the honor for the second consecutive week.
The senior had a strong showing at the JDL Fast Track as he finished third overall in the 800-meter run and was the first collegiate athlete to cross the finish line.
ONU senior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 29-Feb. 5 for her efforts at the Camel City Elite Races in Winston-Salem, North Carolina during the weekend.
Richards added another historic and record-breaking day to her resume.
The senior competed in the 800-meter run at the JDL Fast Track where she finished sixth overall, behind two Division I athletes and three professional runners.
For the third time this season, junior Ryan Bruns (Chickasaw/Marion Local) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
The junior averaged 27.5 points per game in ONU's 2-0 week that featured victories over Baldwin Wallace and Muskingum.
Bruns posted 29 points and six rebounds in the overtime win over Baldwin Wallace and followed that performance up with a 28-point and 14-rebound effort in an 82-69 win at Muskingum.
